In this newest installment of the bestselling Prehistoric North America series, animals and humans are struggling for survival amidst massive environmental change. Mammoths, mastodons, and giant lions have become extinct, and Rain Bear, the chief of Sandy Point Village, knows his struggling Raven People may be next. One day a beautiful red-haired woman, Evening Star, stumbles into his council lodge and begs him for sanctuary. He soon learns that she's an escaped slave from the North Wind People, a Caucasoid race and the Raven People's mortal enemies. If he offers to protect her, the North Wind People will attack, but if he sends her back, Rain Bear knows Evening Star will be tortured and perhaps killed.©2004 Kathleen O'Neal Gear and W. I have been reading the People series for nearly 30 years! I have finished all that have been published so far & am anxiously awaiting Lightning Shell, the final book, to come out next week. I am currently reading my way back through the series, reading them in chronological order this time, & because it has been 18 years since I read this book, plus the fact that I am both reading AND listening to it, it was like reading a brand new book! As per normal for the books written by W. Michael & Kathleen O'Neal Gear, both the story & the characters are well written, rich with historical knowledge, & very enjoyable! These two, using their experience as archeologists & anthropologists, make these books to be educational in addition to being fun to read! I simply love them! The books AND the authors! The Audible narration is good, the voice clear. I truly appreciate having names pronounced for me! There were several places where the narration covered passages that were not in my book, but that caused a problem only the first time! I highly recommend this Audible rendition & suggest to pair it with reading if you can.

Excellent! Great story with good character development. Additional resources provide insight into the climate, culture, and struggles these people faced.

I really enjoyed People of the Raven as it speculated on the realism faced by people in conflict with each other, the lands they inhabited and their spiritual beliefs.

A very interesting treatise exploring possibilities of our ancient past.

This book is as captivating as their other books. It keeps you in suspense the entire time waiting to figure out what each person's path is within and how it will effect the outcome of power..
