Acerca de esta escucha
"Again the kingdom of Heaven is like a pearl merchant on the lookout for choice pearls. When he discovered a pearl of great price, he sold everything he owned and bought it," (Matthew 13:45-46). And thus begins the Pearl of Great Price. Jesus spoke tenderly of a priceless pearl in his sermon about the kingdom of Heaven. Jesus said that he spoke in parables to hide the secrets of the kingdom from some and reveal them to others. This does not mean his parables are full of esoteric information that only a select few can grasp. Indeed, Christ's enemies often understand exactly what his parables mean; the problem is their refusal to trust his teaching about himself and God's kingdom. Join me for a deeper look at our Lord's most inspiring parables.

The book of Luke is a glorious gospel penned by one of the early followers of Jesus. It has been described as the loveliest book ever written giving us a very full picture of the life and ministry of Jesus. Luke applied scrupulous accuracy to all he wrote, to ensure that what we hear is factual. Being a physician, Luke learned early on the need to exhibit compassion and mercy toward others. This gospel is perhaps the most compassionate, love-filled account of the life of Jesus.

To grasp the depth and height of the great I AM and to live life with the end (eternity) in sight is a believer's most significant accomplishment. Within each of His chosen people, God has placed a desire to know him, to worship him, and to live victoriously for him. He has shown us how to have the right perspective concerning this life and the one to come. And what God starts, he finishes.

After his crucifixion and resurrection, Jesus gave his disciples an assignment to change the world - but told them to wait until the power of the Holy Spirit had come upon them before setting out. His charge to modern-day believers is no different: To do the works that Jesus did (and even greater ones, as he said), it is imperative that we operate from the indwelling power of the Holy Spirit. But who is this mysterious Third Person of the Trinity? How do we get this power, and what are we to do with it when we receive it?

Satisfy your intrinsic desire to rise above the norm. Isn’t it true that we long to see the extraordinary, experience the extraordinary, do the extraordinary? Yet, so often we settle for mediocrity when greatness is within our grasp. Why are we drawn to stories of heroic triumph over seemingly impossible circumstances? In our fascination with adventure movies, superheroes, and tales of incredible human feats, do we reveal an inherent desire for something larger and greater in life?

Satan has successfully placed a shroud of deception over many people's eyes. Many do not understand why bad things are happening in their lives. They do not know how to stop those things from continuing. Too many people have an extremely limited comprehension of the forces of darkness in the world. As a result, lives are continually disrupted and God is often blamed for things He did not do.

It can no longer be assumed that most people - or even most Christians - have a basic understanding of the Bible. Many don’t know the difference between the Old and New Testament, and even the more well-known biblical figures are often misunderstood. It is getting harder to talk about Jesus accurately and compellingly because listeners have no proper context with which to understand God’s story of redemption. In this basic introduction to faith, D. A. Carson takes seekers, new Christians, and small groups through the big story of scripture. He helps listeners to know what they believe and why they believe it.

Historia
Renowned pastor and theologian R. Albert Mohler Jr. unlocks the power of Jesus' parables for listeners today. Jesus perfected the art of telling parables—short stories with a surprising twist and an explosive message that confronted his readers with surprising (and often uncomfortable) truths about the human heart and the kingdom of heaven. But two thousand years later, modern readers and listeners may not grasp the cultural and historical context that made these stories so compelling for Jesus' original audience.

Parables
Jesus told stories with a spiritual meaning. They are called parables. A favorite of John Hargrove was "Pearl of Great Price". This has been interpreted two different ways. John preferred to view it as Jesus coming to earth to buy the church with His blood. That the church is valuable to Him. Other parables are mentioned in this book.
