I enjoyed the environmental background story with complex family characters.

Interesting soft environments historical fiction story set during BP oil leak in New Orleans. Story is told from family perspective.

Interesting story

This book had an interesting story, with a lot of family drama! It seemed to be well researched, and I enjoyed a book based in Louisiana. I wasn't a fan of the narrator's voice in the beginning, but after speeding the pace up to 1.5 it was good. The characters were well developed, and although I would have liked hearing a little more about the Louisiana area, I did learn more about the gulf area and how the oil spills affected everything and everyone, not just the water. I'm looking forward to reading more from Joselyn Takacs!

Remarkable and moving

I loved this book. Rich characters, vivid setting, compelling drama, and great narration. The Louisiana bayou landscape during the oil spill is described with haunting beauty. The characters will stay with me for a long time. Highly recommended.

Well researched historical fiction

Great story about the BP oil spill in Louisiana fishing and oyster farming area. Characters, including state government and big company BP. Realistic. Evokes sympathy. Sex alluded to but not graphic, rare these days!
