Publisher's Summary

A chance meeting with a handsome stranger turns into a whirlwind affair that gets everyone talking in this New York Times best seller.

Dating is the last thing on Olivia Monroe's mind when she moves to LA to start her own law firm. But when she meets a gorgeous man at a hotel bar and they spend the entire night flirting, she discovers too late that he is none other than hotshot junior Senator Max Powell. Olivia has zero interest in dating a politician, but when a cake arrives at her office with the cutest message, she can't resist - it is chocolate cake, after all.

Olivia is surprised to find that Max is sweet, funny, and noble - not just some privileged white politician, as she assumed him to be. Because of Max's high-profile job, they start seeing each other secretly, which leads to clandestine dates and silly disguises. But when they finally go public, the intense media scrutiny means people are now digging up her rocky past and criticizing her job, even her suitability as a trophy girlfriend. Olivia knows what she has with Max is something special, but is it strong enough to survive the heat of the spotlight?

Waste of time

I couldn’t even finish it. It put me in a bad mood knowing that was what I was listening to. The narrator kept confusing g her accents. Don’t waste your dollars!

Love Guillory

Loved this book. Guillory is my new favorite. Her characters are smart, and contemporary. Her themes are relevant to current issues. Also if you love food, Guillory does not disappoint.

Ugh

I really wanted to like this audiobook, my first from this author. But the narration was just so bad. I’m sorry to the narrator, I’m sure she’s a lovely woman but it was so flat and I really couldn’t get a sense of the male lead from it. The story was also very juvenile, a bit long winded and I honestly couldn’t understand why these two we’re together. They had no chemistry. But I could have been missing that due to the narration. And lastly, I love a strong Black female lead being a Black woman, myself. But this character kind of annoyed me with her overreactions and almost petulant responses to things. I’ll try another book by the author but I’ll definitely check to make sure it’s a different narrator.

Incredibly disappointed

Squealed when I’m saw Guillory had written another. Have LOVED the series. Read each one twice. HATED this one. No chemistry between two main characters. Saddened to see little to no mention of previous characters especially when it would have been additive. Flat narration. - horrible southern accent, indistinguishable voices. Limited love scenes which had been so well done meaningful in past. Respect what author is trying to do but this, for me, was a real miss

Narration

I will start off by saying the narrator has a wonderful voice. I have heard her on other stories and overall I enjoy hearing her read on Audible . However, for this book her voice was way to mature. I felt like Olivia’s voice and her friend/ law partners voice should have been someone a little younger. At times when Olivia and Ellie were having conversations it didn’t feel like the narrators voice went with theirs.

Can We Get a Movie?

What a beautiful love story! Once again Jasmine Guillory has captivated us with amazing characters and stories of love that we can all relate to! And Janina Edwards’ narration is the perfect ... the words really come alive and capture the emotion of these fictional people that I now feel like are old friends of mine! I would most definitely recommend!

Soo good!!!

I did not want this one to end. All I can say is … where is Shonda Rhimes?! We need to bring these characters to life!

Liked the story, but…

Story was good, but I feel the Author listened to her critics and this story didn’t really intertwine like the other 4 books. Good story, but the initial connection between the other stories really tapered off. I’m going to read them all again in order. And hope that the next story somehow intertwines the whole group or a few of the background characters. Regardless, I can not wait.

Nice story

I enjoyed the lighthearted story line. I like how the couple met and the progression of their relationship. The author captures the emotions of people that fall in love when it seems impossible for them to get together because both have bustling careers with demanding schedules. I am glad they were able to find a solution and to have a life together. Anything is possible if you are willing to take risks and to give yourself a chance to accept love. I recommend it! I also enjoyed the narration very much.

Fun, flirty romance

Party of Two was a wonderful distraction on a 10 hour drive in a U-Haul. It was lovely to visit with characters from previous books in the series. It was a sweet story. The narration was really good. I will come back to this one again.
