Paris and Other Disappointments is a hilarious memoir about fathers and sons, and the joys and challenges of travel, from one of Australia's most talented comedians.

Adam Rozenbachs decided he would take his father on the trip of a lifetime to Europe - a chance to repay his dad for everything he’d given him in life. After three weeks of travel, Adam decided not killing his dad was more than enough repayment. Frustration reached a whole new level as Adam discovered his dad didn’t like museums, galleries, landmarks, travelling or Paris. But amid the irritation of travelling with an adult toddler (an adoddler), Adam learned - through gritted teeth - more about his dad, his family and himself.

If you’ve ever travelled with family, are considering it or would never even dream of it, you will identify with the pain, pressure and triumph of Adam making it out alive.

Actually kind of depressing. Very little humor and mostly annoying and complaining. Likely cathartic for the author.

Not that funny.

I know I wasn’t the first person to travel with an annoying companion. Rozenbachs kindly offers to fulfill his 60_something father’s long-held wish to see Europe. It doesn’t take long for the son to realize what a big mistake he made. The two jaunt through Germany, Paris, and London, and every step of the way the dad doesn’t disappoint with his quirky observations. The book is read by the author, an Australian comedian, and it entertains throughout.

it's hard to put down but I was expecting more of a comedy. I guess it's easily relatable because nothing is more frustrating than family and nothing beyond that is more frustrating than not being appreciated for what you do for them. this is a story of a well meaning guy who through a mistaken positive outlook was shat upon by his father's reality. everyone has a Tommy in their life, our poor friend Adam here made the mistake of trying to change his "Tommys" worldliness. It is a lesson in generational gruff and maybe even to realize that despite differences and expectations, predictability should never be overlooked. Well read personal. I'd like to meet them now and buy good ol dad a pasta buffet so I never have to hear him complain. cheers

not what I was expecting
