Publisher's Summary

Retired Navy SEAL and New York Times best-selling author Jason Redman divulges how to triumph over adversity using proven Special Operations habits and mindsets.

Adversity can often catch you by surprise and leave you struggling with what to do next. What if you could confront any adversity, from the biggest challenges - the loss of your job, divorce, health issues, bankruptcy - to normal daily challenges - a late flight, a disappointing phone call, a missed promotion, a bad day - and not just survive it, but thrive afterwards?

Redman was horrifically wounded in Iraq in 2007 when he was shot at close range through the face and arm. After 40 surgeries, including extensive facial reconstruction and skin grafts, he came back from this experience stronger than ever - despite carrying scars and injuries he will have for the rest of his life. Redman went on to launch two successful companies and speaks all over the country on how to build better leaders through his Overcome mindset.

Overcome is based on extensive research and interviews with America's toughest warriors - including retired four-star Admiral William McRaven, retired Navy SEAL Jocko Willink, retired four-star General Stanley McChrystal, and others. In this audiobook, Redman teaches:

  • How to survive any life ambush
  • How to move from defense to offense using the proactive techniques of SEAL teams
  • How to strengthen your endurance during long-term trials
  • How to rediscover and thrive in your life purpose
  • How to lead your team (whether in business or family) to success
  • How to compete with the top one percent in your field
  • How to stay the course even when you want to quit
  • And more

Some people move through adversity, and others fall underneath it. Learn how you can be counted among those who will Overcome.

Navy Seal shows Army Ranger there is light at the end of the tunnel.

This book is a life changing must read. As a retired military combat wounded veteran, I Have spent twice the time trying to figure out how to adjust to normal life than I ever spent on a battlefield. Jason takes the lessons he has learned, many the hard way, and breaks it down and makes the reader understand that overcoming life’s roadblocks and even the derailments is possible. It was an emotional read for me because I can personally relate to a lot of the things that he has gone through. But this book is for any and everybody. Military member, or CEO. We all have those times we want to wave the white flag. This book will motivate you and excite you about the life you can lead. Thank you Jason Redman, for this book and for your service to this nation. RLTW

Great message

For a specific target, wounded warriors, this is an excellent book. Message is very good. But those of us outside the military will have a harder time relating to his stories that back up the message. Got pretty long.

Great personal and leadership book

I enjoyed the manner in which the writer told/shared his stories. Very inspiring! I also appreciated that the language was such that I would allow my kids to read this and I would recommend it to others. Great book!

Must listen! This will get you on track.

Overcome has a general self help process with multiple personal examples from the author and other well known military and business people. The multitude of examples enables the author to relate to each reader’s personal problem wether it’s from losing a limb to not managing your self well and provides a realistic way to course correct. This requires the reader to be honest with themself so they can improve.

Book of the Year!

This is the book of the year. Jason Redman gives listeners practical and actionable principles on how they can respond to the devastating storms and ambushes of life. He narrates the book with empathy, emotion and power. I purchased both a physical copy of the book and got the audio version as well! I first heard of Jason Redman earlier this year and read his book, "The Trident." It soon became one of my favorite books on leadership and self-improvement. I started following Jason on social media and eventually joined his Overcome Army group coaching. When I had an opportunity to read and listen to his new book, "Overcome" I knew it would be good. But after reading it, I have to say that it is more than good - it is life changing. Jason does a tremendous job of teaching a principle and then providing real life examples of those principles in action. He offers practical steps that you can take in your every day life to overcome the obstacles and adversities you face. Jason doesn't just spout theory and catch-phrases, he shares real-life insight and wisdom. In the past year I've experienced the death of my father and two bouts of surgery for skin cancer. I found myself really struggling and just plodding through life. Overcome helped me to see where I was really at and what I needed to do to get through these painful experiences and get back to living my life. I am so thankful for having read and listened to this book.
