Former SEAL sniper Cody Roberts has returned from Afghanistan with too many demons and a simple wish: to be left alone. Working for K2 Special Services, caring for the war dogs he rescued, playing his guitar - that's all he wants to do. But Cody is as protective as his nickname, "Dog", suggests. A man like that can't sit back when he realizes the beautiful veterinarian next door is being targeted by an unknown enemy.

Riley Austin is desperate to find out who's poisoning her animal patients, and she's stunned by her mysterious neighbor's suggestion that it's personal. But Cody makes her feel something else, too: a powerful attraction. He insists he's no good for her, but those haunted eyes and that chiseled body tell Riley that surrendering to their mutual lust is worth the risk. And despite his conditions - no falling for each other, no regrets once it's over - she'll fight to love him just as fiercely as he'll fight to save her.

A wonderful story with all the elements that make it so enthralling - suspense, great characters, humor, many poignant moments that bring on tears. One of my favorite books in quite a while!

Fantastic story!

Before this book I tolerated the audiobooks in this series as the male narrator was not a good choice for romance reading. Finally, the last book and he was switched out for Sebastian York and all is well.
Good story, the K2 men series was a good "read"

I loved all 5 books. This was the 1st time I read this author and I'm glad I came across this series. I laughed and cried in every book. I am sad that this was the last book I would love to hear more about them all together and how their families grew, but I loved all the stories.

Great series

She did a amazing job. Love. K-9. Dogs and most of all seal brothers and sisters . Of these novels. I was. Laughing. And crying. I needed that at time.

I love all K9 stories of seal brothers

This was soooo much better than books 3 and 4. Every bit as good as 1 and 2 were. I absolutely loved Cody and Riley, and I’m glad they didn’t call him “Dog” too much in the story. That’s not a good nickname for a man.

A great story intertwining Cody’s memory loss with whoever was after Riley. And I liked their secrets and that they didn’t carry them around for the whole book. AND it was so great that the others were there, too: Logan and Dani, Jake and Maria, Saint and Sugar, and Ryan and Charlene. This has been a good series overall and I’ll miss them all.

(((One thing I’d like to say about Ms. Owens is that she has beautiful women and drop-dead gorgeous men. Unlike a lot of readers I read to get out of the real world so I don’t want to read about someone too thin, too fat, too unattractive, red hair that looks like a Brillo pad, whatever. And we’re supposed to believe a god-like guy is going to fall for them? I like fantasy but not that kind of fantasy. That’s MHO. And, yeah, I know I’m shallow because I was beautiful characters in my books.)))

I did like Sally and Pretty Girl, Cody’s dogs, and his simple verbal commands, as well as his hand signals, and how well they obeyed. AND I couldn’t wait to see what happened with Layla. His love for all three of his dogs was just amazing. LOL, since I’m not a cat person I can only say that Riley’s affection for her three cats was touching.

There is explicit sex in this book as well as swearing and the F-bomb is released 18 times.

Honestly, I wish Sandra Owens wouldn’t stop writing this series. I loved those 5 heroes!

As to the narration: Again, Amy McFadden should have done the entire book. As nice as Sebastian York’s reading voice is he didn’t do women’s voices worth a damn. A woman’s manly voice is just not a good listen.

4 stars for McFadden and 2 stars for York..

Loved each book and found it had danger and humor and so much love. Will look for more of Sandra Owens books.

I have listened to eight of Ms Owens books most are entertaining . It feels kind of hit or miss some flow smoothly, with good character build up like this one while others like the one before this one just don't flow right. This was a good one. I liked it a lot.

One of her better ones
