Publisher's Summary

He came home a hero and lost the only woman he’s ever loved....

John
I have no idea how to survive without my beloved Ava. She had no choice but to move on with her life during my six-year deployment and has now married Eric. I hate him for taking her from me. I’d prefer to wallow in my depression and heartbreak, but the whole damned world wants a piece of the SEAL Team leader who helped capture the world’s most-wanted terrorist. I need help handling the relentless requests, and when Ava sends her new sister-in-law to manage the media circus for me, I’m prepared to hate her on principle. Her brother took my Ava. What else do I need to know about her?

Julianne
It takes five seconds to realize Ava’s ex is going to be the most complicated and difficult client I’ve ever had, but the opportunity to represent the most celebrated man in the world could make my career. I’m determined to do the job, even if I dislike John from the moment I meet him. And I like everyone. So much so that my brothers worry about me being exploited by those who would take advantage of my unwavering love for others. But John.... He’s in a class by himself, and his bitterness is a festering wound that I begin to wish I could somehow fix for him. The more time we spend together, the more our mutual disdain morphs into something that feels an awful lot like desire. There’s no way I can want this man, or so I tell myself, and when Eric finds out I’ve developed feelings for the man causing trouble in his new marriage, well....

That’s going to be a hot mess.

"The stars take turns telling the fast-paced story from their points of view in Force's hard-to-put-down tale." (Booklist)

Utterly Fantastic

Is there anything better than a Happily Ever After?
Seriously book 1 gutted me. I loved the whole story from the beginning to the end I couldn’t and wouldn't have asked for a better heart-wrenching story.

I didn’t know about this book until about a month or so before it was due to come out and let me tell you I was so freaking pumped knowing John was going to get his Happily Ever After. I love, love. It is why I love romance so very much.

This story was not only worth the wait it was necessary the struggles one couple goes through is not uncommon with a situation like this. But the way they all work through the hard nitty-gritty stuff is what makes a great story, or at least it does for me. I enjoyed getting to see the aftermath not because it was interesting or made the story better but because it's real and a little real in our fictional romance is what is necessary. It helps build that connection with the characters.

This story is one I will not soon forget and I can’t even tell you how wonderful the narration was for all the characters, they really bring this story that extra thing that makes a great story exceptional.

Wonderful follow-up book

One Year Home is the follow-up book to Five Years Gone. This is the story of how John handles his return from his injuries and the breakup with Ava. Ava's new husband's sister, Julianne, is John's new PR person handling all the requests for his appearances to talk about his experiences on his secret deployment that cost him a leg and the lives of two of his best friends. Even though John and Julianne shouldn't even think about a relationship considering the complications between Ava and Eric but the dislike and eventual attraction for each other overshadows the concerns they have. Julianne brings the "old" John back from his despair. Marie Force really knows how to bring all the feelings out in this book and I love it. The narration of Jason Clarke and Erin Mallon are wonderful plus we get to hear Andi Arndt and Joe Arden as Ava and Eric again. The reading of Five Years Gone first is necessary in my opinion to get the whole experience of One Year Home.
