Narrated by Jennifer Jason Leigh

Quentin Tarantino’s long-awaited first work of fiction - at once hilarious, delicious, and brutal - is the always surprising, sometimes shocking new novel based on his Academy Award-winning film.

Rick Dalton: Once he had his own TV series, but now Rick’s a washed-up villain-of-the week drowning his sorrows in whiskey sours. Will a phone call from Rome save his fate or seal it?

Cliff Booth: Rick’s stunt double, and the most infamous man on any movie set because he’s the only one there who might have gotten away with murder....

Sharon Tate: She left Texas to chase a movie-star dream and found it. Sharon’s salad days are now spent on Cielo Drive, high in the Hollywood Hills.

Charles Manson: The ex-con’s got a bunch of zonked-out hippies thinking he’s their spiritual leader, but he’d trade it all to be a rock ‘n’ roll star.

Hollywood 1969: You shoulda been there

It is a great read and expands on the movie, makes me want to write my own novel.

Great book

Strange time when the book is written after the movie… what’s better the movie or the book?
You’ll have to listen or read to find out

So dope

This book was excellent! I loved getting to know the characters more as well as Jennifer Jason Leigh’s narration! Very well done!

For QT fans, a must. But it ain't no Orwell or Nabokov. Fun if your a Buff. But, all in all, kid should stick to the pictures.

Not only should you read this if you love the movie “Once Upon A Time in Hollywood,” but you should read even if you’re a movie fan in general. This book is Tarantino’s love letter to Hollywood, and it makes you feel like you’re living there in the late 60’s. Plus it expands on the movie characters’ background. And it’s narrated by JJL who got an Oscar nom for her role in The Hateful 8!

A must-read for movie fans!

To start, the narration is nowhere near as bad as other people say it is in the reviews so please don’t let that stop you from listening to this. Jennifer Jason Leigh does a decent part at all the voices. When she speaks as Rick Dalton, I can actually imagine DiCaprio’s performance in the movie. When speaking as Cliff Booth, I can’t imagine Pitt as clearly but it doesn’t take away from the performance.
While I enjoyed the book, I can’t help but be disappointed that the ending of the movie where Tarantino rewrites history and has the Manson family gruesomely killed by the actor and his stunt double was changed. I can’t be alone in thinking that was the highlight of the whole film. It’s disappointing to see that part cut out completely in favor of Rick and his young costar spending more time together. I was definitely looking forward to that brutal scene depicted with words. It makes the whole Charles Manson and his family subplot of the book kind of worthless.

*SPOILER FOR THE MOVIE*

I love the deeper introspection of the characters that you fell in love with in the movie. cliff's story is fucking amazing! how many people did he kill with a knife? he has to count on his hands and maybe some toes. pretty fucking dope story the second time through.

love the movie? the book might be better

Loved his unique stule of writing that almost combines screenwriting with novel writing. jennifer did a good job narrating but I think I would have rather heard Tarantino himself narrate it or even Leo or Brad Pitt.

Tarantino will have a long career as a novelist

This was a true gift to be submerged further into the lives and stories of Rick Dalton and Cliff Booth! As a Tarantino fan, I feel like I have been so spoiled with this! After listening to this novel, it’s no wonder Tarantino is a master of his craft, the character development is so rich and the conversations between each of them are done like no other writer/director out there. Jennifer Jason Leigh does an excellent job as narrator, Tarantino has a gift for casting the right man (or woman) for the job. She transports you right back into this world of 1960’s Hollywood. I was completely giddy over all the extra “scenes” that were in the book, such a joy to listen to, gaining information not know from the film. Now if Tarantino would only do this for all his other films.

A must for Tarantino fans!!!!
