First Love Rekindled

Sawyer Bennett just dropped another tasty little morsel on us -- Off Duty was off the charts hot and sexy, with a cute little kid to boot. Tim and Holly find out that sometimes you can go back. These two pick up the passion and the romance like they were never apart. This novella was pleasant listen showing how true love and heal old wounds.

Another good job by Charlotte North and Matthew Holland as narrators. They this a quick and easy listen.

Since this is a short novella, I would pay the reduced price and not use a credit. The reduced price would be money well spent.

I'm not 100% sure on this series

Would you say that listening to this book was time well-spent? Why or why not?

I'm split. The first thing you must know is that this series is a bit like a short story. The characters and story line is very simplistic without a whole lot of depth to it. The story line will start with the characters being defined, determining the main issue and it will be 100% resolved quickly. The last few chapters read more like an epilogue than a continuation of the story. I usually prefer a book with a bit more meat to it but these are good for what they are.

What was the most interesting aspect of this story? The least interesting?

I think what's somewhat interesting is the story arc of a multi-racial couple. That's not normally something that's in the main stream books. What I don't like about that story is how glossed over it is and how the emotions of the issue are sort of swept under the rug. There was an opportunity to really make this an interesting story but it's really more of a glossy version.

What does Charlotte North and Matthew Holland bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

I'm not a huge fan of Holland. This is my first experience with him as a narrator and he's very monotone. I will give him the benefit of the doubt that the story line isn't super strong, so it may have more to do with the overall writing. I liked North as a narrator, she did a solid job and carried the female character well.

If this book were a movie would you go see it?

Probably not the one it is written now. If you look at this book like a movie script, this would be considered the basic bones of the story. There's no real meat to anything to convert this to a movie.

If you're looking for a quick read that is interesting, these would be worth your time. I will say, I do prefer some of the story lines of the other books in the series a bit better.

Cringe

Lost me at (paraphrasing) his dark skin against her creamy white skin “adding to the eroticism” of their sexy times. This author is tone-deaf.

Basic romance

Pretty basic story.

High school sweethearts break up over parent's bigotry. They run into each other 10 years later and get back together. The end.

Characters are okay.

Sexy times are okay.

Narrators are okay.

Enjoyable, quick and sexy

A second chance novella following Firefighter and single dad Tim Davis as fate brings him face to face with his childhood sweetheart orthopaedic doctor Holly Reynolds, when Tim's son Sam fractures his wrist. Tim is visiting his sister in New Orleans where Holly now works in the ER, this means that their reunion is short lived as Tim needs to return to New York. New York, a place that Holly left behind when her hero of a father let her down badly with his bigotry. Maybe now it's time to return home, building bridges with her parents isn't a priority, but things have changed a lot in 10 years for her parents, it would appear however that Holly and Tim's feeling for each other are stronger than ever. A quick, sexy read that I thoroughly enjoyed.
