Great Book

October: The Year of Discovery, Book Ten was another great read by M.L. Hamilton. Moira has always wanted to open a women's health clinic along with a shelter for women that need help. Moira's dream is about to become a reality but there are people that will threaten the mission she has. She meets Nathaniel, a detective, when she receives a death threat. He vows to do whatever it takes to protect Moira and help her see her dream become a reality. Kelley Hazen did a great job of narrating the characters so that you love them and want the best for them. I can't wait to read the rest of this series.

Moira Sykes

I’m totally enjoying this Year of Discovery Series and this is book 10. The primary character in this book is Dr Moira Sykes who recently opened women’s health clinic and was harassed by anti-abortion group especially Stuart Millson now to complete her dream opened a women’s shelter and now has gotten personal threats and actions against her. She then contacts Detective Nathaniel Hayes and they become item, great narration! I cannot wait for next book, November. October - Moira’s Story

The Year of Discovery series continues to blow me away. This installment is October, and it’s Dr. Moira Sykes story.

Opening a women’s health clinic had always been Moira’s goal. Now that it’s a reality, Moira faces situations she never anticipated...

I think this is one of the best series I have had the pleasure of listening to. Between M. L. Hamilton’s incredible stories and Kelley Hazen’s phenomenal narration, it’s truly an emotional and entertaining experience.

A Awesome Listen

I was voluntarily provided this free review copy audiobook by the narrator and found it as inspiring as the previous books in the series. Dr. Sykes has had a dream since she was child and finally she has accomplished it, a women clinic and shelter. It hasn't been easy and she has had some setbacks including protestors, but clinic is doing well and her shelter has had it grand opening. The next morning, she finds her door painted, the protestors have found her home. Dr. Sykes is not put off so easily though. The author has a special talent to create characters and stories that feel real and the narrator brings every story to life. Looking forward to November.

A bit of crime/mystery genre in the series...:)

'The Year of Discovery' series takes a little turn into the genre of crime/mystery this time - not really surprising as Ms Hamilton is a master in that genre, too:)

Up till now doctor Moira Sykes and her clinic have only been mentioned as a background to the other women's tales, so it's finally time for her story:) And it's a good one. It starts quite innocently with a little bit of graffiti on the wall of her house, but then some other more threatening things start to happen and Moira needs police protection... or, more specifically, one policeman's protection:) Also, it's time for her to not only have her dream fulfilled but finally find a true partner in life... Is Detective Nathaniel Hayes an answer to both?

Moira's story is again a tale of a strong woman who needs to let go to find her true self, though it differs from the previous books in that the focus is more on the mystery/crime to be solved... But it's similar in that again it talks about an important issue societies try to avoid discussing or bringing into light - home violence and its consequences, not only for the abused women but also those who try to help them, people like Dr Sykes... It's a good tale; the plot is fast, the threat to Moira's life grows with every page and the solution is a bit surprising. The relationship between Moira and Nate may seem a bit rushed, but on the other hand it's not improbable and feels real. Generally it's another good addition to the series.

Narration by Ms Hazen is as usual almost perfect. The voices are well done, the emotions ring true and add reality to the tale. It's a very good interpretation of the series.

October October

I think I say this every month, but October I think is my favorite. I was anxiously waiting for the book October and even though this will seem trivial it was because that is a month of my birthday yay me! Moyra desperately wants to open a clinic and help abused women and children mainly women. There are forces beyond her control though they don’t want it to happen so much so she even gets a death threat from OK I’m sorry I can’t tell you who it’s from that would be a spoiler my bed. So anyway she gets a death threat and calls and a detective will they solve the case will they get to the bottom of it will more room open her clinic all these questions are answered in this my favorite year of discovery book October. This author deserves an award she has taken every month of the year in Made it into a compelling pro female story. It is not all female some of the women get help from male cohorts but mostly it is the support of the friends sisters aunts and other prominent females that help them get to where they’re going. From Angela to Cairo to the very first female in the book January whose name I cannot remember she is Alexis’s sister I forget her name all these women are strong and have goals yet every Book is compelling and keep you reading. Let me know forget to mention Kelly Hazen who has been such a great narrator and I can’t believe there’s only two months left it is going to be so bittersweet getting the December book but I haven’t even gotten November yet so let me calm down. Get this book or stole from January instead of buying just January get the winter Siri which is January February and March 3 bucks for one credit you must read this it’s awesome!
