Exciting from start to finish

Loved seeing the gang back together, albeit not for that long. I loved the Demigods of San Francisco series and this is an off-shoot involving Lexi’s ward, Daisy. It briefly touches on Daisy’s past but for more background I highly recommend listening to the whole series. You can certainly start with this one though with no problem. Anyway. Daisy is kidnapped by a gorgeous fae she met years ago and takes her to Faerie which means they have to battle many creatures and obstacles along the way. There is an unusual attraction growing between the two of them and there are several fairly sensual scenes. In the end it’s revealed how and why they got together and they are now on their way to the faery kingdom of Obsidian to try and save both the Earth realm and the Faery realm. Loved the book and now can’t wait for Book II. Highly recommend.

Have you ever read two characters who are written so absolutely, perfectly for one another that you just know in your heart that if they don’t end up together nothing else will be right in the world? Well, let me introduce you to Daisy and Tarian.

Daisy is human and a kick a$$, independent, can take care of herself FMC. She had a rough upbringing and faced many trials and tribulations but she was able to overcome anything thrown her way by finding comfort and acceptance in her “found family”. Tarian is an immortal who is as cocky as they come but also ruthless, powerful and overly protective of what he deems to be his- including Daisy and will unalive anyone who dares harm her or threaten the unusual relationship that they’ve developed. Put these two in the same room together (or horse) and the sparks fly immediately. Their connection is out of this world-literally and it is so clear page after page that they are destined for one another. There is no denying their chemistry even if fate may have other plans in mind.

I cannot stress enough how witty, clever and overall natural the banter between Daisy and Tarian feels. Seriously, they go head to head on most of their intellectual conversations and I found myself chuckling while reading and wondering what was going to come out of their mouths next. The banter is chefs kiss 🤌🏼

K.F. Breene has done a phenomenal job at world building for this duology. Holy smokes! There are so many layers and unique creatures with special abilities that it is so easy to see why I was hooked from the very first page. I also love a book with a map 🙌🏼 because why the heck not draw it out for us visual learners… major bonus points for that little detail!

I am so glad I picked up Obsidian and can’t wait to see where these two characters with their smart mouths and “families” take us during book 2…

Loved the beginning of Daisy's story. The world building was incredible. Im looking forward to the next installment!

Audio review
As expected Daisy’s story did not disappoint. This book was a bit darker, but oh so good! I love Daisy’s confidence. Even when she is terrified you wouldn’t know it because she is so good at controlling her emotions. I can’t wait to see how this rollercoaster ends for her and the Dark Fae prince. Listening to this book had me on the edge of my seat. I will listen again many times, I’m sure.

honestly might be my favorite in this universe. it's so freaking good and everything I didn't know I needed.

Daisy's & Mordecai's voices did not mature

Daisy and Mordacai still sounded like the teens they were 4-years ago. Slow start with the story setting, but picked up by mid book. Slowburn romance appropriate for storyline. I do look forward to book two because I need to know how the story ends. This book did not have the LOL humor that I have come to associate with Ms. Breene's books.

We're not in San Francisco anymore

KF Breene has brought us to a whole new realm where DemiGods don't rule and can't get in, but the Fae do, and the games they play are wicked.   This dark and sexy duology is a whole different realm and world. Can Daisy learn to survive as a human among the fae? Will she be able to resist the witty, sexy, and cunning Fae that hunts her dreams? What won't Daisy sacrifice for her family's wellbeing?

didn't see the end coming

I was surprised that they are both set to die from the magic. I was surprised by the ending. It is often easy to predict where a story goes. I thought he may turn into a good guy. Which he sorta. A guy willing to kill them both. it's crazy and exciting

Love Daisy’s Story!

Loved seeing all our old friends from Demi Gods of San Francisco then transitioning into the world of Fairy. Can’t wait for the next book! Don’t want to give any spoilers of this book, so I won’t give my predictions. Love this book!!!

I’m hooked!

If you enjoyed the original series then you will be delighted with this book! It has the same feel, tone and characters’ voices/perspectives - just a few years later. It’s going to be a LONG wait until the next book.
