Publisher's summary

Isnโ€™t it obvious weโ€™re just best friends?

Adrian is my best friend. We live together, hang out, and heโ€™s the best cake taste tester I could want.

Hugs are the norm, along with cuddles while watching horror films. I need someone to protect me during the scary bits, so why not Adrian? Heโ€™s almost a foot taller than me, so he makes a good armchair too.

Life is exactly the way I like it until Adrianโ€™s sister drops a bombshell that leaves me questioning everything I think I know about myself and my straight best friend.

Can one kiss change everything? Iโ€™m about to find out.

Oblivious is an M/M best friends-to-lovers novella. Itโ€™s a light and fluffy love story, with a double bisexual awakening, a little bit of heat, and no angst. None. Zip. Nadda. Thereโ€™s meddling family members and two sweet best friends who are totally oblivious about how much they really care for each other. Oh, and cakes. Thereโ€™s lots of cakes.

Sweet Best Friends to Lovers Story

Cute story but nothing really happens. There is a bit of nervousness before they cross the line but that’s about it. It’s all pretty fluffy and very sweet. The narrator was really good, it was nice to listen to before falling asleep.

No angst, best friends to lovers, bi-awakening loveliness.

What an adorable romance. A friends to lovers unlike any I’ve read before. Both Fitz and Addy experience insecurities in different ways, both thought they were straight, and they show a vulnerability that I haven’t seen in both MCs of a story before. At first, I was beginning to become annoyed with their initial nervousness while they started becoming intimate with one another. Like you guys trust each other so much in every other aspect of life, how is this happening? But once I really thought about it, that’s what made the story more realistic. Sometimes getting intimate can be awkward and that’s just the way it is! My absolute favorite part was them talking in the kitchen of A Spot of Tea. They really open up and talk about how important they are to each other and always have been. They’re conversations just become so romantic every time after that. It was so lovely and I loved it โค๏ธ

Dan Calley is lovely. I enjoyed his voice so much. And I absolutely love hearing a book in the proper accents when I fail to do so in my head. A job well done all the way around.

A wonderful reading experience

This book was so much fun to listen to. The audiobook of this book was just such a wonderful reading experience for me. I listened to this one while doing my everyday life things and listening to this book just made my day better. This book was just such a wonderful listening experience and I just really enjoyed it.

I also love a good friends to lovers. And this one was the perfect example of everything I love in a friends to lovers book. I loved how well they knew each other and how clear it was that they actually were best friends. I loved how well the book established their relationship and I loved seeing them turn their friendships into love. This was just the sweetest progression for me and it made for such an enjoyable friends to lovers. This book was just so cute and such a sweet reading experience and it melted my entire heart.

Adorable!

This is one of my favorite novellas out there because it’s just so dang sweet and really shows the truth of how awkward a double bi awakening would be between two men. Their friendship then love and fumbling exploration is so dang endearing. I think Dan Calley did a wonderful job, but I might be biased because his narration of Adrian sounds like one of my favorite tv characters. Definitely a comfort re-listen!

Oblivious

I love listening to this book it was so much fun getting to know Addie and Fritz, having been friends since grade school it was so obvious to everyone but them that they belonged together since they already lived with one another and acted like an old married couple. But even so, the one thing they needed to figure out was if being together as a couple was what they both desired and could it last them both a lifetime.

The audio makes it better!

Calley brings to life two of my favorite characters of Davison’s. Best friends to lovers (eventually - that’s the fun part), everyone else knows Fitz and Addy are a couple, except Fitz and Addy. I loved, loved loved how Fitz is casually demisexual and discusses it early on in the story. These two work out the kinks of their evolving relationship and we get to go along for the ride. Love the story and the characters and the narration really brings it to life. I have found myself recommending this book time and time again and will be adding the audio to my regular rotation.

A sugary sweet friends to lovers story

One of my favorite things to do, lately, is to find the audio version of a book I’ve already read and listen to it. You get to experience it all over again but in a different way. I read this novella a few months back and absolutely loved it so I was overjoyed to find out it had an audio version. Listening to the characters is a completely different experience from imagining their voices as you read. The narrator does an amazing job of bringing these characters to life. I absolutely adore Fitz and Adrian and I love them even more now that I have voices to put with them.

It’s heartwarming to witness them figuring out what everyone else already seemed to know: they’ve always been something more than friends. Friends to lovers is one of my favorite tropes and these two men are the perfect embodiment of it. They’re so sweet together. All the cake and cupcakes Fitz made over the years probably helped with that! This novella was a joy to read and this audio version was wonderful to listen to. I will definitely be re-visiting Fitz and Adrian’s beautiful story in the future.

Original ebook review:

A beautiful story where longtime friends become lovers and no one is surprised except the new couple. Fitz and Adrian have been not just friends but best friends for the past 20 years. They even live together in the same flat, have meals together, a snuggle on the couch watching tv. They’re very touchy-feely for two men who think they’re straight and have no interest in one another beyond the bonds of friendship. Then one day, everything changes and they can never go back to how things were between them.

This is one of the sweetest friends-to-lovers stories I’ve ever read. I absolutely love these characters and their chemistry is amazing, even when they’re “just friends.” It’s also very sexy and romantic. A joy to read, I couldn’t stop smiling.

A Loving & Lovely Cozy Comfort Listen

Having already read the e-book, I jumped at listening to this audio version and it was equally delightful. Narrator Dan Calley delivers a top-notch performance, full of varied voices and delicious British accents that all sounded spot-on to me, and nicely complemented the story.

I'm pretty sure I had heart emoji eyes while reading/listening to this super sweet best friends-to-lovers romance. The friendship between Adrian and Fitz is so easygoing and genuine that it's easy to see why they've fallen for each other.

Besties since childhood and now flatmates, Adrian (30, 6-foot-2) and Fitz (30, 5-foot-4) aren't much for dating. They're close and pretty touchy-feely with each other, but truly oblivious when it comes to the depth of their feelings...until family helps open their eyes.

Adrian and Fitz moving from friends to lovers is awkward, adorable, nervous, thoughtful, and perfect. Their romantic relationship unfolds at an unhurried pace that's comfortable for both, and it's quite loving and lovely.

This is a quick, sweet, and angst-free read that left me smiling...and craving one of Fitz's cupcakes. Cheers for demisexual representation and the gorgeous cover too. I received a free review copy of this audio book and have left this honest review voluntarily.

Sukura cupcakes for seduction

If you are looking for a super low angst and sweet story this is it!!!
Amazing characters and world building. Lots of fun side characters that round out the story with humor.
A double bi-awakening could have been presented horribly, not so with this author. Sensitivity and real fears were present as they would be in real life. Kudos for the perspective of both characters anxiety and nerves.
It is super cute how these two men don’t realize they are in a relationship that’s more than friends until their families point it out.
This is the perfect Valentines Day read. It will make you want cupcakes and to smell Japanese cherry blossoms.
The audible version is very well narrated. The beautiful accents will immerse you in the story and tug at your heart.

A wonderful listen

What a wonderfully cute and fluffy story with all the good feels. Dan Calley is a new narrator for me but he brought both Fitz and Adrian to life. Loved it! What I love most about all Colette’s work is the care and respect between her characters. Just beautiful!

Perfect pick-me-up

Do not listen to this while hungry or you'll definitely have to make a run out for sweets. Adrian and Fitz have that friendship that we'd all love to have. A person who "gets" you completely, likes the things you like and fits into all those jagged pieces no one else quite seems able to do. This is the story of how they come to realize what they have is more than just a friendship. It's a perfect Valentine's Day treat - sweet and just the right size to enjoy without guilt in a break in your day. You'll come out of it smiling, refreshed and optimistic. Dan Calley's performance here is perfect for the story. His voice is sweet and warm and captures the friendship and love between these two just like you want to hear it.

Absolutely loved this story when it came out in e-book and I still love it now!
A super sweet romance with two adorable characters that are simply perfect together.
Dan Calley has brought this absolute delight to life!
I don't want to say too much about this as I don't want to spoil it for anyone!

Warmth and romance with wonderful narration

This book is perfect for what it is - zero angst, friends to lovers romance. Adrian and Fitz have been best friends for about twenty years and always comfortable with each other, even for snuggles on the sofa during a horror movie. It's not until a meddling sibling decides enough is enough that they are aware of what they truly have with each other.
I love how these two men balance each other out. Fitz being the chatty social one and Adrian the quiet wallflower. They know everything about each other and yet have this whole new world to explore together as neither has been with a man before. It's such a sweet romance with fun between the MC's and their families, definitely the nosy types who only want their sons/brothers to be happy. Cannot recommend enough for those looking for a happy escape that is full of comfort and cupcakes.
Dan Calley's narration really brings the warmth and friendship between Adrian and Fitz to life. He offers a range of voices to all of the characters and I especially enjoyed Adrian's deeper tones.

Friends to lovers. A joy to listen too.

Another gem of an audiobook. I loved the book but wow Dan Calley as the Narrator of the audio book makes it more special, the voices are awesome and fit the characters very well, the Narrator gives extra life and personality to the characters. I loved this heart warming listen, a lovely romance story of two opposite best friends finding out their other half was there all along. It seems the only people who don't think they are a couple are themselves, the two main characters of the book Fitz and Adrian "Addy" they've always got on well, doing things together, innocent touches here and there, even girlfriends mentioning it, looks from the members of their family. Then one day the sister mentions it to them, they're suprised and then try just one kiss to get it over with. From there we see them expand as as a couple, sorting out their emotions and how they feel about each other.

sweet valentine's Day story

This has got to be my new favourite valentines day story and I'm so pleased it has been made into an audio book now. ๐Ÿ’œ This is such a sweet story about best friends Fitz and Addy who have been friends for 20 years. They have both struggled with finding a connection with anyone else. When Addy's sister suggest they should just kiss each other and see how they feel. When they kiss it's the start of them experimenting and falling in love. I thought the narration was good and fitted with the characters. I enjoyed listening to this ๐Ÿ’œ
