A forbidden, secret affair proves that all’s fair in love and science—from New York Times bestselling author Ali Hazelwood.

Rue Siebert might not have it all, but she has enough: a few friends she can always count on, the financial stability she yearned for as a kid, and a successful career as a biotech engineer at Kline, one of the most promising start-ups in the field of food science. Her world is stable, pleasant, and hard-fought. Until a hostile takeover and its offensively attractive front man threatens to bring it all crumbling down.

Eli Killgore and his business partners want Kline, period. Eli has his own reasons for pushing this deal through—and he’s a man who gets what he wants. With one burning exception: Rue. The woman he can’t stop thinking about. The woman who's off-limits to him.

Torn between loyalty and an undeniable attraction, Rue and Eli throw caution out the lab and the boardroom windows. Their affair is secret, no-strings-attached, and has a built-in deadline: the day one of their companies will prevail. But the heart is risky business—one that plays for keeps.

Love the female narrator, hated the male.
Unfortunate bc I’ve been waiting for this book to come out.

Hated the male narrator and couldn’t get past chapter 3.

I have read nearly all of Ali’s books so far and I really had high hopes for this book but it’s just to much sex I feel that the plot takes a major back seat and honestly feels like the characters only fall for each other due to the amount of sex they have. I am not a fan of this narration style of the constant switching and jumping in for speaking parts, it made finishing the book very difficult especially with how breathy and raspy they both sound. Overall too much sex scenes for my taste and while interesting to get both perspectives, the narration was tough. Plot is okay but moves slow for obvious previously stated reasons.

The narrators made listening hard

The graphic details of every sexual encounter they had were not needed. I get that it’s a “romance”, but this was too much. Skipped through, what felt like, half the book. Not what I expected. If I knew prior, I would NOT have spent $16 on it!

Too graphic

the male narrator sounds far too old for an early 30s character, (while the book cover shows a younger male). In some parts, he should sound romantic/ attractive, but sounds like a psycho.
the whole story is not as interesting as hazelwood's early books, although I thought it had an interesting plot at the beginning.

unmatching male narration
