Publisher's summary

For a full nine months, 18-year-old Megan Bryant kept her pregnancy a secret. With an ever-growing stomach, her senior class production of Little Shop of Horrors, and high school graduation in her midst, Megan did the only thing she could think to do...hide herself from her family and friends.

That is, until she no longer could.

Megan's family discovered the truth when she finally went into labor and delivered a healthy, full-term baby girl. What followed was a story of determination, commitment, and the sacrifice only a mother can make.

After keeping her story closely guarded for years, Megan, in her book, Not My Plan, authentically and intimately shares how the path toward adoption can change a family's trajectory forever.

Megan's drive to share this story stems from her desire to open up more dialogue around adoption as a viable option when faced with an unplanned pregnancy and, ultimately intertwines other experiences like how she stumbled into a career as a comedian and improv trainer. Megan uses this and other stories to encourage others to suspend their judgment of one another and embrace these wild journeys we each face in this life.

Moving, informative, well-written

Loved it. I read the kindle version when it was first published, and I loved it even more hearing told in the author’s own voice. I found the story very moving, incredibly interesting, beautiful, and informative about some of the emotional aspects of adoption. I found myself laughing through tears many times as Megan has found a straight-forward but witty way to relay her journey as a birth mother, and the impacts it had on those close to her and the adoptive family. I absolutely loved hearing the different perspectives added in from Megan’s firstborn, Hannah, the family who adopted her, and Megan’s mother about this very unique story.

Whether you are a faithful member of the LDS church or know nothing about it, I think it’s interesting to hear the influences that guide others to make the decisions that they do, and reading about it can make us better equipped to be more sympathetic/empathetic human beings. Whether you agree with the decisions Megan made through her journey or not (which is quite frankly irrelevant), I feel like anyone going through a pivotal trial can find something to relate to in this story, and it has inspired me in many ways as I navigate some trials of my own which have nothing to do with the situation of adoption or family. Thanks for sharing your truth, Megan! I love that you advocate not just for adoption, but for women to have ALL of their options when facing such a crucial decision, and to make the decision that best fits their own unique situation.

Amazing story by a friend of mine

what an amazing story told by one of my classmates. Megan opens up something very personal about being a teenager pregnant at school and hiding it from friends family and her church. I have known Megan for many years and it's a true Testament to be able to open up about this process of adoption. I am an aunt of three beautiful teenagers that were adopted by my brother. their adoption was not as smooth as Hannah's. However adoption is very important because it's a live that is saved that God our Father he has given to us. Well done Megan I am so proud of you in your journey that you have come on
