Publisher's summary

For centuries, Lisette d'Alençon has been a warrior against the dark. She fights alongside her brothers and comrades. But when the dreams start coming, she can't bear to confess them to the Immortal Guardians' command. She dreams of a dark-haired man with soft eyes and brutal wounds, a man her heart aches for - and a man she knows has been declared a traitor.

Zach is an exile, a loner. He won't defend himself against false accusations or grovel to those who should have faith in him. But he'll damn sure defend the woman who kept him sane against a plague of supervamps that seems to have appeared from nowhere. The Guardians will blame him, and that will make Lisette suspect, too. With life, death, and eternity on the line, who can they really trust?

LEATHER PANTS AND WINGS! HOW COULD YOU GO WRONG!!!

This book of the series is definitely a must read. I was starting to get a little frustrated with the Immortal Guardians series. It was starting to follow a very predictable formula. But this book, this book has once again restored my love of this series. FYI, some questions still haven't been answered(groan) but there will be answers to other questions. This book doesn't have a cliffhanger, per se. It does have a HEA.

From the previous books, you already know that Lisette is starting to harbor secret feelings for the renegade immortal Zach. The one and only person on Seth’s shit list. But that doesn’t stop Lisette from helping Zach when she founds him badly beaten, bruised and bloody in her back yard. She lovely helps nurse him back to health with the aid of Bastian (the black sheep himself), knowing this will enraged Seth. She cannot understand the connection she feels towards the ancient immortal but she does realize she is willing to risk everything just to be with him.

Zach is something more. He never thought he was capable of being anything other than what he was until Lisette stepped into his life. With her, he truly understands what it is to live again. So when he almost loses her in a battle, he decides to put away old strife between him and Seth and help the Immortals Guardians, all because of his love for this dark warrior. And Zach for all his millennium of living and untold secrets, finding love is the greatest and scariest thing in his life.

The book contains, as with the series, the right combination of action, romance, suspense and passion. The fight scenes that the Immortal encounter are detailed. Dianne, as always, describes anything in such detail that you not only picture the fight, but you feel as if you are in the midst of battle. Although I think this book had a bit more of a serious tone than the previous four, it still added unexpected hilarious moments, which you may find yourself smiling or laughing along with the characters in the book. The romance scenes are rocking hot. The combine just the right amount of sexual tension, passion and drool worthy smex. YUM!!! Although unlike the other books, this book kept the suspense throbbing and alive for me the entire book. Even now, I'm thinking through different scenes from the book trying to answer unanswered questions. I think that is what makes it worthwhile, when I want to reread a book because I'm left questioning and speculating about different chapters of a book.

Every time I listen to a book that Kristen Potter narrators, I found a new facet of her voice that I enjoy. She gives each characters the right amount of distinguishable accent for their nationality. I particular loved her voice for Aiden (secretly hoping his book is next).

My two cents is to buy this book. If you have read the series in the past and thought it was getting predictable, this book will hopefully bring you back into the world of the Immortal Guardians.

A Fantastic addition to this series

Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?

I would. You can listen to this book as a standalone but, I really feel like you need to start at the beginning to capture the depth of the characters. These immortal guardians are freaking amazing! There is action, intimacy and bond of family that is interwoven in every story. I would definitely recommend it

What other book might you compare Night Unbound to and why?

The only other books I would compare it to would be the other Immortal Guardian books.

Which scene was your favorite?

When Lizette was injured and Zac poured everything into her to the point of passing out over and over. The scene was moving and powerful to me.

If you were to make a film of this book, what would the tag line be?

"Wings of Love"

Any additional comments?

Another great story, worth buying and listening to over and over. Can't wait to get started on the next one.

Spectacular..

Any additional comments?

I would be hard-pressed to say which of these books are my favorite. I love all the characters involved: Bastian, Marcus, Roland, Seth, David, Melanie, Jenna, Ami, Chris, etc. And I'm so happy that Cliff hasn't gone insane yet and I hope he never does.
I really love, love, loved Zach and Lizette, an awesome twosome for sure.
The one thing that I really, really, really love about this series is that fact that the end of the book leaves it open for another book but it's never a cliffhanger. I absolutely hate those. AND these books have some incredible sex in them.
I hope we're not going to have to wait another (almost) year for the next in the series.

As to the narrator: Ms. Potter did an awesome job. Every person had their own voice and personality. I never get tired of listening to her.

THIS SERIES IS WHY I LOVE PARANORMAL ROMANCE

It's all been glowingly said before so all I'll add is what a great series this has turned out to be and this book, IMO, is simply the best so far. It's packed full of action, suspense, mystery, romance and a full cast of loveable characters and each scene is so well written and described that you feel you're there. Then Kirsten Potter added her magic and brought it all to life with her very talented narration. And the Hero, well who doesn't like a sexy, drool-worthy, vulnerable yet alpha, virginal winged Warrior who has fallen hopelessly in love.

Told from various POV's and has an ongoing secondary plot so it would be best listened to after books 1-4 in the series.

Worth a credit? I loved, loved, loved it all..... so of course I'm going to say YES.

Yes!!

Can't believe I took so long to get to this book. I love this series, and Lissette has been one of my favorite characters so far. Diann Duvall writes the best kick-ass female characters with strong male characters. Such an awesome spin on a vampire series. It's not just Vampires, but mysterious Immortal Guardians. This series has it all, mystery, suspense, sexy romance, humor, and a real in-depth story that makes the completely unreal feel realistic. Book 5, and I still can't get enough! On to the next one, which is actually set far in the past!

And, Kirsten Potter is PERFECT for this series. Love her narration. There's a big cast of characters here, and she captures each of them from book to book.

LOVED IT LOVED IT LOVED IT!!!

I loved every minute of this book. I've been anticipating a story about Zach since book 2! His love interest Lisette was great, but I found myself so intrigued by Zach and Seth specifically, so I knew this book would be one of the more interesting one's that answered many of the questions that have been looming since the earlier books. This story had all the elements I enjoy--suspense, drama, humor, and hotty-licious romance. As always, the narration was dynamic and brought all the characters to life. I emphatically recommend all Dianne Duvall's books, but this one in particular was noteworthy in the series and is definitely credit worthy.

He tossed a vampire though the bay window.

It’s very refreshing to make it to book five in the series and the author is still able to able to keep everything exciting and fresh. I’ve been anxiously awaiting Lissette and Zach’s book for a while now. Lissette is just looking for love in a little happiness. And she will do almost anything to get it even if it means betraying Seth in her mind. It was great to see how vulnerable she got to be and yet still always remain her true self. Zach ended up being sweet and vulnerable in his own way. Together they will be a force that is hard to beat. It was great to learn more about the others as well. Diane Duvall does a wonderful job of keeping the story going without revealing too much information.

Kristen Potter is as always amazing. She brings every character to life and distinguishes between all of them. She is one of my favorite narrators. Is this book with the credit? In my opinion the entire series is worth as many credits as it takes.

Can You Say Angels with Black Wings & Vampires Wow

This is a continuation of the Immortal Guardians Series. We met Lissette when she was helping others defeat the enemies of the Guardians and humans. she fights along side her brothers who were turned by accident trying to protect her. She falls for Zack who is thought to be an enemy but is actually helping them. He protects her and gets angry with the Guardians because they left her to fight alone and was injured. The many ways that this story could end will keep you listening until the end. Well worth the credit. Although this can be a stand alone it is best heard through the series. Well written and the narrator definitely adds to the story.

so anyways

I'm vested in the series but one thing really irritates me about all the books there is more sex than story. All the books seem to just be filler for whatever the climax of the series is. If you are bored they are decent listening and the stories alright. If you're like me and listen at work the sex scenes are generally skipped over and there are a lot of sex scenes. Also you can pull out earbuds talk with coworkers then go back to the story without missing a thing, that is to say 15 minutes won't put you behind in the story. Also the mystery in the books leaves something lacking. With common sense you can come to the same conclusion it takes the characters a book to get to.

Loved the Romance!

Listened for Review/Purchased (Tantor/Audible)
Overall Rating: 4.00
Story Rating: 3.75
Character Rating: 4.25

Audio Rating: 4.50 (not part of the overall rating)

First Thought when Finished: I loved Lisette and Zach in Night Unbound by Dianne Duvall!

Story Thoughts: Going to admit that I love the romance part of Night Unbound. It was refreshing that words like love and support were early (for romance) to raise their hand in this story. It made me fall in love with the romance more than I expected too. As for the forwarding of the overall arc of the series. I felt this was a bit of filler novel but important filler. A lot happened but we only moved forward a bit. That being said, at no point was I bored during listening to the story. It was well worth the time.

Character Thoughts: Second admission: I liked Lisette in the previous books but I wasn't sure I could handle her as the lead in a full-length novel. I was wrong. In fact, it was a little frustrating when the story wasn't about her and Zach. I loved them together. Zach has always been swoon-worthy to me. He is one of those broken but healing characters I love to love. However, falling in love with them as a couple stunned but pleased me.

Not writing spoilers but why you can't skip this: Two very important pieces of information come out during this book. Also if we don't find a way to save Cliff I am going to cry (that isn't a spoiler as he is infected but I say this every book since Bastian).

Audio Thoughts:

Narrated By Kirsten Potter / Length: 13 hrs and 21 mins

This is a series that I will only listen to on audio. Kirsten + Dianne = great author/narrator pairing. Kirsten outdid herself this time--her numerous accents were dead on!

Final Thoughts:Now counting down to the next one!

Lisette's Story and. ......

All I can say is, I have already downloaded book 5.5 and will be starting it momentarily.
The plot thickens in the overarching story as to who is behind the attacks on The Immortal Guardians and human alike. However with each story providing a HEA for some of the stalwart characters that we have been introduced to.... all I can say is. . NEVER let it end!
Dianne, THANK YOU for writing and Kirsten you talent for bringing the cast to life is magnificent! 💕⭐️💖⭐️
