Publisher's summary
Bethany Anne and those in the Etheric Empire have conquered the Aliens who would conquer Earth.
However, there are a few that do not appreciate the new rules.
Dealing with insurrectionists down on the planet, or with a large military rebellion coming from another system, Bethany Anne and team are ready and willing to give everyone a piece of their mind. Because there is one common attitude that runs in all of those who fight for the Etheric Empire.
They will never surrender.

In the 20th century Earth sent probes, transmissions, and welcoming messages to the stars. Unfortunately, someone noticed. The Galactics arrived with their battle fleet in 2052. Rather than being exterminated under a barrage of hell-burners, Earth joined their vast Empire. Swearing allegiance to our distant alien overlords wasn't the only requirement for survival. We also had to have something of value to trade, something that neighboring planets would pay their hard-earned credits to buy. As most of the local worlds were too civilized to have a proper army, the only valuable service Earth could provide came in the form of soldiers....

Story
The 200 years' (and counting) peace was a time of tranquility that hasn't been seen since...well, ever. Mankind in the Galactic Age had finally conquered war, so what was left for the military to do but drink and barbecue? That's the kind of military that Sergeant R. Wilson Rogers lived in before he left the fleet to become a smuggler. But it turns out that smuggling is hard. Like getting-arrested-for-dealing-with-pirates-and-forced-back-into-service kind of hard.

Story
When out-of-shape IT technician Roen wakes up and starts hearing voices in his head, he naturally assumes he’s losing it. He isn’t. As of last night, he has a passenger in his brain - an ancient alien life-form called Tao, whose race crash-landed on Earth before the first fish crawled out of the oceans. Over the millennia his people have trained human heroes to be great leaders, to advance our species at a rate far beyond what it would have achieved on its own. Split into two opposing factions - the peace-loving, but under-represented Prophus, and the savage, powerful Genjix - the aliens have been in a state of civil war for centuries.

Story
York August Sixteen was abandoned as a baby, abused and molested as a child, and beaten and harassed as a teen and had his rightful place in the Republic's Space Navy stolen from him. Fighting back against huge government systems was useless. Dispensing justice on an individual, case-by-case basis was more to his liking, yet even that was taken away when he was stationed on a lonely communication space station. York's life would change when he decided to seek justice for people even less fortunate than him.

Story
They're all gone. We remember them like yesterday: pieces of our stolen heritage. Things like NASA. Football. Parades and pies. Good things, comfortable things. We remember a time when we were alone in the universe, safe and oblivious. But it's all gone now. We called them the Telestines, and in the face of their ruthless invasion we were powerless. By 2040, all the world's governments and militaries had fallen, and the remnants of humanity exiled to the solar system. We looked down on our blue planet, so close to our birthplace, so close to our home.

It was supposed to be a training mission: skip in, find out the Casimir Transmitter had gone dead, report back and wait for resupply from the Fleet. By the time the only surviving member of the team made landfall, it was spectacularly clear that this wasn't a training mission.

Blink blink
I began reading this series a couple weeks ago on audio book, not realizing the rare scope of this series. Now, 16 books in, I am stupefied. This has to be the most ambitious science fantasy series I have ever seen. That’s saying a lot. It is full of singular characters who have often cracked me up. The series is quite indulgent, and while many don’t seem to like that type of series, I love them. And this series goes on and on but never becomes boring. Anyhow. I love these books and haven’t been taken with a science fiction character since Robert heinlein’s future history. Now as I await the next books to come out in audible format, I am Sending my psyche back to earth for the other series set 20 years after earths worst day ever. Maybe by the time I have plowed through that, there will be more Bethany Ann action on audible. I just wanna know tho, maybe I missed it but, what happened to the cats ?

It doesn’t get any better than this!
For anyone who is starting the series here, it’s an action packed BA story that will bring tears to your eyes. The best news is if you haven’t listened to the first 15, you have some books to collect while we all wait patiently for #17. RIP Archangel 1 and those of her crew that were lost. Welcome to the universe Archangel 2. This was my favorite BA story yet!

Long live the Archangel!!!
Wow… this is my third time through this series, my first time on audio, and I still love it!!! I know this won’t be my last!
There are so many awesome and amazing things happening throughout this book. The Lowells are setting up an information network for their Empress. Ranger Two is being set loose on slavers. John gets to go “unstoppable terminator” on some arrogant caste lovers. Then Archangel goes “all guns blazing” on the height and some of the last rebel Yollin military power.
The end of the war with the Yollins sees some sad losses… the tribute is seen in the launching of the new Etheric fleet epic bossomness!
I love the rude awakening so many aliens experience when they meet a new empire led by our indomitable and intransigent Bethany Anne! An amazing woman who will NOT become who she isn’t, especially for some arrogant aliens! Oh man, I love her dealing with a certain race of spies…
Oh! We got to see the first human born in space, a certain favorite niece of our Empress’s, teach some teenage thugs what’s what! Oh man, it’s priceless!
So… I’ll shut up now with thanking Anderle, his team and the “fantabulous” Emily Beresford for another specnominal experience! On to the next book!
I appreciate the opportunity of receiving the code for this audiobook. I am more than happy to get to leave a review!

Through the gate
Spoiler Alert:::Heaviest emotional story in series so far.
The Etheric Empire under Bethany Anne has travelled through the gate and deals with Yollan rear action, as expected. BA is able to challenge the King with surprising results. Small rebellious actions among the previously high caste population creates a reputation for John and the 1 Bitch legacy. The Yollans have 1 more major surprise for the Etheric Empire before their conquering is complete.
On a more personal side, the puppies decide to find humans & others to bond to. Tabitha and her Tontos are sent out as the Queen’s Rangers to stop galactic Slavers.
Beresford does a very good job with narration.

illogical
It just doesn't make sense to me why they only had one battleship before they left earth, or that there was no alien capital ships in the main system. Also explosive decompression is not a real issue, unless there was a huge space the decompression doesn't generate enough wind to move a human sized object.
