Great Read

Drowning in Deceit by Meredith Potts was a great read. This is the fourth book in The Hope Hadley series. Hop decides to help uncover the mystery around Benjamin's death. He was found face down in a swimming pool. I loved reading this book and can't wait to read more of this series.

Drowning in Deceit

This series keeps changing things up. Each book in the series is still quite different. I don't think Hope Hadley has quite found her grove yet since leaving Hollywood CA. The opening scene is quite fun when an alligator is trying to come in though the doggie door (who in Florida has a doggie door, for this reason lol). However it seems Hope keeps repeating herself about the alligator wrangles not having anything with them. And she seems to have lost her sense of humor too, especially at the end when her boyfriend bring over a new float for the pool.
The narration is nice, but it did seem to drag on a bit in spots I ended up having to speed this one up so it was not dragging on.

Fast paced

I love this book. This is the first book in the series i have read. Even though it tis number 4, i had not problem connecting with the story line. I hoped to read/listen to the first 3 and the ones after this book. The story line was great, loved the characters. The opening scene with the alligator was great. The only negative thing i can say about the book is it is too short. Wish it was longer. Loved it. I was gifted this book in exchange for an honest review.

I'm ready for Book 5!

Drowning in Deceit is Book 4 in the Hope Hadley Cozy Mystery Series by Meredith Potts, narrated by Rachel Carr. I started with Book 1 and haven't looked back; I have really enjoyed listening to each of these short audiobooks, and I can't wait for Book 5 to be released on audio! It is fun to get to know the characters and watch them change over time. Even though this is a series, the books can be read in any order. Each one is complete in the sense that the mystery/case is solved within the pages of the book, leaving the reader with NO cliffhangers (Thank you!!). What I originally thought would be a turn-off has, instead, ended up being my favorite feature...the length! It's what has kept me running back for the next in series. I am not a huge fan of super long books, and I generally do not listen to many short ones, either. Most of my Audible library is filled with books that fall between 7-12 hours. Never did I expect audiobooks of 1-3 hours to be so much fun to listen to!

I have to admit that I am the queen of the snooze button. I am horrible when it comes to waking up...I have 9 alarms set, and I hit the snooze mutliple times on all of them. I can't even believe I am admitting that, but no one is perfect, right? One morning while getting ready for work, I decided to continue listening to where I had left off the night before in Book 1. Before leaving home, I was able to finish the book. I noticed that day I was in a happier mood...no joke, I think it was because I left my house smiling. I love the clever premise of this series: Hollywood actress, Hope Hadley, returns home to FL after her show (in which she played a detective) is cancelled. It's only natural Hope puts those sleuthing skills to work...and, thus, the adventure begins! Narrator Rachel Carr does a wondeful job in playing main character Hope Hadley! She is funny, engaging, and makes my listening experience that much more enjoyable. Well, the next morning when my alarm went off, I jumped up (yes...no snooze button today!), downloaded Book 2, and listened while I got ready. After having another great day at work, I knew I had to make the rest of this series part of my daily routine! Who knew Hope Hadley would be the answer I'd been searching for?! Yay!

Meredith Potts and Rachel Carr, thank you for putting a little pep in my step each morning and keeping a smile on my face all day long. I am anxiously awaiting Book 5's release on audio....PLEASE say this is not the end! :-) Waking up each morning to Hope and Joe solving their latest case has helped to brighten my mood and set the tone on a positive note for the day...not to mention, the snooze button on my alarm clock has probably enjoyed the time off. :-) I recommend Drowning in Deceit: Hope Hadley Cozy Mystery, Book 4 to those who enjoy cozies, humorous cases, and good clean fun in all under a few hours.

Thank you for reading my review. I hope it was helpful. :-)

Brother/sister duo at it again!

I really enjoy this series because it’s lighthearted & fun, but also puts together a good plot & mystery! In this book you see Hope working to solve a murder alongside her brother who is a cop. I really enjoy their dynamic, because they both have different methods when interrogating suspects. They do a little bit of “good cop/bad cop” and play off of each other really well! A short listen, but perfect for a cozy night in!

Hope Hadley #4

This book is a fast read.I have not read this series before and found this book as an easy read. If you are looking for a hard core mystery this book is not for you. But if you are just wanting to relax and read a quick cozy this book fits the bill. Rachael Carr does a good job of narrating this cozy. I was gifted this book with the understanding that I would leave an honest review.

Great short murder mystery story!

Drowning in Deceit
Hope Hadley Cozy Mystery Series, Book 4
By: Meredith Potts
Narrated by: Rachel Carr
This is an audible book I requested and the review is voluntary.
Although this is a short story, it is packed with all the goodness of a novel. Great characters, good plot, clues to die for, ( yep, I went there), and twists.
The narrator is great, she kept things flowing just right!

ANother lovely story

Well, first of all, this book has the best opening scene of any of them. I simply loved it, and that's all that I will say to not ruin it for you.

I really liked how comfortable is Hope with her brother now, and how well they work together. And how she doubts of her own perceptions after she made a mistake in her appraise of the people who come to help her with an issue she has at home; it's a great detail that makes Hope even more human.

As always, Rachel Carr does an amazing job in the narration of this story.
