Amazing Journey About Love Conquering Life

Title: My Life as an Album Series
Author: L.J. Evans
Format: Audio
Narrator: Sarah Puckett, Neill Thorne, Michael Norman Johson
Genre: Romance, Southern, Small Town
Standalone: Yes
Part of a Series: Books 1 to 4 of My Life as an Album, plus a novella that is a companion to book 1
Steam Level: Steamy but not explicit, fade to black
5/5

I've never read L.J Evans before and I'm really glad I requested up this boxset which includes books one through four of My Life an an Album and a novella that doesn't appear to be available anywhere else. This boxset is only missing Book 5 My Life as a Christmas Album which looks to be the kids of the characters in these books. I'd love to read this one book too in the future. My Life as an Album is a phenomenal read. It went places I never expected but loved. Each book is unique but all build on each other and the events that happened in the first book. Each book is an emotional journey. Have plenty of tissues nearby because you will ugly cry. You'll also laugh and swoon. L.J Evans puts you through the emotional ringer in this amazing journey of love, loss, and moving forward with the help of friends and family who are your strength when you're weak and who can also rely on you, through the good and the bad. L.J. Evans doesn't shy away from the tough topics including death, addiction (many different types of addiction), guilt and violence. While not graphic, these books show the ugly aspects of each while presenting a happy future, even when life looks the bleakest. I haven't read such an emotional journey in a while and, while it's not always my favorite, this set is amazing.

My reviews for each individual book are below:
Book 1: My Life as a Country Album
Narrator: Sarah Puckett
Genre: YA/NA, Neighbors, Friends to Lovers, Sports (Diving, Football)
Standalone: Yes
POV: Camden (aka Cammie or Cam)
Steam Level: Some
5/5

I knew from the start that this story would be an emotional journey. In it Cam is looking back using Country songs and lyrics to reflect on her life and love with Jake - her neighbor, protector, and first love. My Life as a Country Album is an emotional journey though stories and memories that leaves you breathless and heartbroken. I laughed at Cam's stubbornness and how Jake would deal with it. I loved how strong and feisty Cam is and how Jake builds her up, loving her because of this, not despite it. Jake and Cam's love story was beautiful, passionate, devastating and too short. But, like I said, we know from the start how it ends. However, that not how this story ends. I loved that L.J. Evans showed Cammie also healing and moving forward, one day at a time or sometimes one hours or minute at a time. I loved how this story ends with a new beginning. I love who Cam reconnects with and how he acknowledged Jake's memory and Cam's love for him - not trying to replace Jake but to expand Cam's heart further to include him. I was surprised who she ended up with but also not. I'm not usually someone who likes stories that cut you open and make you cry but this book is a fantastic read and also a great reminder to take care of yourself and your health. If I could give My Life as a Country Album more than five stars I would in a heartbeat.

Book 2: My Life as a Pop Album
Narrator: Sarah Puckett
Genre: Rockstar, Road Trip
Standalone: Yes
POV: Mia
Steam Level: Steamy but not explicit
5/5

I LOVED THIS BOOK!!!!!! While not as heartbreaking as My Life as a Country Album, My Life as a Pop Album is still an emotional journey through learning to love and forgive yourself. This is Mia's book and in it she's dealing with the loss of her brother, despite giving him a kidney. The guilt she feel is heartbreaking but I loved how Derek dealt with it. I loved seeing Mia come out of her shell and also more of Cam's HEA. I loved Derek and how he shows his soft underbelly and coaxes the real Mia out of hiding, encouraging her to live outside of her comfort zone.

Book 3: My Life as a Rock Album
Narrator: Neill Thorne and Sarah Puckett
Genre: Suspense (Stalker), Antihero, Redemption, Enemies to Lovers, Second-Chance
Standalone: Yes
POV: Seth and PJ
Steam Level: Steamy but not too graphic
5/5

I love that Seth got his redemption story! Meeting Seth in My Life As A Country Album you see him in a dark place. You see the bad boy who feels deeply and lashes out. You see what he wants you to see, the image he projects to the world but also a hint of the softer-side shown to Cam, but don't really get to know him. In My Life as a Rock Album, you see the real Seth. You see the man reflected in his art - a little bit damaged and pieced together to make a stronger whole.

The format of My Life as a Rock Album is unique is the best way for this story to be told. Love, loss, and acceptance emerge in a brutally honest way. PJ (or Bella as Seth calls her) is strong and sassy. What she’s gone through strengthened her despite the way she sees herself. The triumph and love and support system is strong. The mystery of what happened with PJ’s stalker unfolds throughout the letters and memories, in bits and pieces welded together - just like Seth’s art. This series continues to get better with each book.

Favorite Quotes
Not until we are lost do we begin to find ourselves
Not being able to see the ground is not the same as being lost.
“When you touch me I forget where I was going”...”Maybe it’s because you’re already where you need to be.”
“Nobody deserves another person, PJ. You can’t earn a someone like a merit badge. All you can do is love one another and if you do that should be enough. If you truly love each other, mistakes and all, then you get to help each other be the best version of yourselves you can be.”

Book 4: My Life as a Mixtape
Narrators: Michael Norman Johnson and Sarah Puckett
Genre: Inherited Baby/Single-Dad, Rockstar, Friends to Lovers
POV: Lonnie and Wynn
Steam Level: Slow burn to warm, but not explicit
5/5

We meet Wynn as Cam's friend in My Life as a Country Album and Lonnie as Derrick's best friend in My Life as a Pop Album. I was hoping that Lonnie would get his own HEA but I wasn't expecting it to be Wynn due to events in other books. Like previous books in this series, it doesn't shy away from the hard, emotional stuff that life brings. Wynn, newly divorced, is dealing with her hidden demons. Lonnie's quiet about his upbringing, but when he's called back to LA his life changes immediately. I loved that these two were each others' rock, supporting in each other in the hard times but also allowing each other to heal themselves. I love this series and My Life as a Mixtape is no exception. L.J. Evans is a phenomenal writer and I love how all these characters are strong on their own but even stronger together.

Bonus Material:
Title: My Life with Cam
Narrator: Michael Norman Johnson
POV: Blake
Steam Level: Minimal
5/5

This bonus novella is Blake's reaction to Can's journal from My Life as a Country Album and reflecting on his past (and future) with Cam while she's delivering their son. I loved seeing some of her memories from his view, how he saw her relationship with Jake and even Cody. He was almost always on the periphery of the story since they grew up together-ish. I wondered who told Jake about what happened with Seth and Cam on the cliff. I loved (and hoped) that she shared her memories of Jake with Blake and filling in some of the gaps that she didn't know. This is a great addition/bonus to this boxset. You can feel Blake's love for Cam and the joy he feels when this cowboy captures his filly, not to break or tame, but to enjoy the ride that is life.

The world that L.J Evans creates in this series is beautiful - full of love, but also doesn't shy away from the hard stuff that life often throws at you.

I received this audiobook for free from Pink Flamingo Productions and Audiobook Obsession. This is my honest and voluntary review.

Incredible Boxed Set!

This is the first series I've read/listened to by LJ Evans. She is a great writer with spellbinding storylines and wonderful characters. I didn't want to pause the audio, but I had to live my life! I would wake up thinking of these characters and their situations.  I really loved how she wrote these. Book one as a journal with one narrator, book two was more normal with one narrator, book three through letters with two narrators, and book four was more normal with two narrators, book five was a novella with one narrator.

These stories were humorous, heartbreaking, and heartwarming all rolled together. I was so invested in this world she created of broken characters that heal with family and friends supporting them.  You'll need tissues for each book, but be prepared to laugh as well. I honestly cannot pick a favorite which is rare for me.

The narrators were fantastic. Sarah Puckett, Michael Norman, and Neill Thorne performances were perfection of smooth voices with so much emotion. The books rolled like a movie. SO. VERY. GOOD.

Amazing Boxed Set! Great Value!

My life as an Album is a set of four interconnected standalone novels, and one exclusive novella. This is a great value, and an amazing Boxed Set. Each story is beautifully written, and emotional, with a satisfying happy ending. 1) My Life as a Country Album: Cam and Jake's story is emotional and heartbreaking. 2) My Life as a Pop Album: Mia and Derek's story is emotional and sweet, filled with angst and guilt. 3) My Life as a Rock Album: Seth and PJ's story is heartwrenching, emotional, and intense, filled with misunderstandings, a lack of communication, and a little suspense. 4) My Life as a Mixtape: Wynn and Lonnie's slow burn romance, is sweet and beautiful. This Life with Cam: This novella is an amazing surprise and a great addition to the series. Sarah Puckett, Michael Norman Johnson, and Neill Thorne did a great job with the narration. I highly recommend this boxed set. #AudiobookObsession

Beautiful Stories of love

Never in my life have I listened to a series with such a myriad oF emotions. Each story has its own theme, based on songs by various music artists. Taylor Swift, Ed Sheeran,
Bon Jovi, Lady Antebellum and one with various artists.
Tissues are needed throughout each book. the angst, heartbreak, life and death, untold feelings that cost losing love, are masterfully written with emotions so raw it will gut you.
Sarah Puckett, Neill Thorne and Michel Norman Johnson are phenomenal with their narration. Their voices and personalities for each character were spot on! The ability to transition from one character to the other is flawless. They each portrayed them at their strongest, weakest and most vulnerable moments. I thoroughly enjoyed listening to these story. Thank you L J Evans for a wonderful series. I highly recommend it!

Sarah Puckett, Michael Norman Johnson & Neill Thorne are PHENOMENAL narrators!! My life as a album series

my life as a Country album (my life as a country album book one) will tug at the heart. A poignant and exquisite coming of age novel of achy love and loss and learning to live through life in all its pain and glory. Tears will fall & tissues highly needed every time you listen to this lyric allegory as you will relisten as to keep Cam & Jake in your heart always. Cam & Jake's love ballad is brimming with angst, agony, family, friendships, and love. I love that each chapter begins with a song title that represents that chapter. The writing style is apple pie. A narrative that is unparagoned & worthy of a writing reward as this novel goes above and beyond. No novel has ever came close to what I felt and still feel after listening to this beautiful ya love story.

my life as a Pop album (My life as an Album, volume 2) is told like a love ballad with lyrics sprinkled at the beginning of each chapter. With a hard follow-up to Cam and Jake's story, Mia's (Jake's younger sister) romance is not your cookie cutter popstar romance. More than just a romance, a tale of self-reproach, forgiveness, making strides, and go all-out for your dreams. Mia's character is very compelling as well as an exemplary heroine. I love that Jake may be gone but never forgotten. Supporting character's span across and pop up as needed. A meritorious contemporary flirtatious romance. My Life as a Country Album began my love affair with this series, My life as a Pop album continues to tear at my heart and soul. Oodles of love for this story and series. The writing style is exhilarating and highly captivating, with a music series that is not your typical middle-of-the-road music star romance.

my life as a Rock album (My Life as an Album, Book 3) is the 3rd standalone novel in this series, told in dual pov. Where to begin, im inlove with series and the characters involved. I love the composition of the story and how it was laid out. Inspired by Bon Jovi songs, I absolutely love it. Hearing about Cam again and the the mention of Jake I just started weeping again. PJ Hensley and Seth Carmen's lovestory is unforgettable and beautifully captivating. A blend of spellbinding ingredients to create a
Intoxicating listen.

my life as a Mixtape (My Life as an Album, Book 4) is the final book in this unforgettable series. I absolutely love how this author incorporates music in her writing. An award deserving series that captures your heart and soul and keeps a part of it with you forever. Lonnie and Wynn's love story brings a dollop of angst, slathers of drama and a slice of humor. I loved the cameo appearances and the discussions of the characters in the previous books. I absolutely love the characters and their stories. This is one series that you need your tissue box next to you while listening. I absolutely loved the ending. I highly recommend listening to this entire series.

Narrator Sarah Puckett is the perfect choice to narrate this spellbinding series. Her performance is flawless and addictive. Her tone, pitch, and voice changes with changing characters. I could spend 24 hours a day listening to audiobooks she narrates. Sarah Puckett is the perfect leading lady. Her tone is intoxicating. Sarah Puckett's southern accent is smooth & sweet, with a perfect pace and tone. Her male voice is impeccable. The melody was flawless and the whole performance was perfect. Sarah brings all the angst and heart to life.

Narrators Sarah Puckett, Neil Thorne made this story their own. Absolutely flawless performance, loved it. Neil is a new narrator to me and I absolutely loved his inflection.

Michael Norman Johnson performed well, I just didn't love his inflection. His character portray of Lonnie was well played. An extremely entertaining listen.

The narrative as well as the narrator is a red-letter audiobook. One of my all time favourite audiobook series.

I highly recommend reading/listening to the entire series as it breaks your heart into pieces and puts it back together with this unforgettable read.

The best!!

This series is hands down one of my favorite series of all time! I absolutely love all of the characters, the variety of storylines, and the way they all connect to one another. To be able to buy the whole thing for one credit is incredible!

LJ Evans has a rare talent for making characters come off the page in a way that is so believable you connect to every single one of their emotions. When I read her books, I experience the wide range of emotions myself. I love the way her characters overcome hardships and still manage to thrive. Her HEAs bring a special kind of satisfaction, because I have truly been cheering the characters on from beginning to end. Even Seth, when he was hard to love in the previous books.

The narration for this series is also completely incredible. I absolutely adored hearing my favorite characters come to life with all of their emotion and passion. I wouldn't hesitate to listen to more from each of these authors. This is a series I know I will listen to over and over again!

Great Box Set!

My Life As A Country Album – Even though there was three years between them Cam and Jake are best friends whose relationships evolved into an enduring love. They had their whole future planned out until they found out that life is not always fair and it’s how you handle what life throws at you that shows your true strength and resilience.

My Life As A Pop Album - Mia blames herself for being unable to help those she loved so she is determined to be the perfect daughter. Derek is a rising rock star who hides his demons behind a happy façade. They have an immediate chemistry and connection, but they take us on emotional ride as they fight for a future together.

My Life As A Rock Album - Seth is an artist with a tortured soul who believes that he is unlovable while PJ is a blogger who carries regrets and guilt from her past as well. From the moment they meet the connection between them is deep, but neither is prepared for the depth of their feelings and the damage from their pasts.

My Life As A Mix Tape - Wynn has returned home after the end of her marriage while Lonnie is the bass player who is there when she needs someone the most. When life as Lonnie knows it abruptly changes it is Wynn’s turn to stand by him and they must decide if they are ready and willing to take the leap from friends to lovers.

It is great to have this series in one set. The narrators managed to bring out not only the emotion and angst of the story but the captivating characters as well. 🎧Audiobook Obsession

Best series !

one of the best series I've ever listened to , the books follow the life of 4 different 'kids' as they grow , life throws so many curveballs at them as they progress into adulthood but what follows this is an amazing heartfelt thought-provoking series , each chapter heading is a song title that just fits perfectly with each story , my life as a country album was my favourite of all the books and I really enjoyed the bonus story THIS LIFE WITH CAM which shows Blakes perspective growing up with Cam - from my life as a country album - each narrator played their parts to perfection and it felt like you grew up along side these characters rather than just hearing their stories .
If I could recommend one box set/series only this year then this would be that series .

Great Srories

I still remember when I started this journey with My Life as a Country Album, this book was pretty amazing and so I had to continue with the next ones.
All of this stories are fantastic, I love to be able to follow the playlist because it gives so much more to each story.
The characters are not perfect, they have flaws and, they struggle and they're able to overcome their obstacles and achieve their HEA.

The narration is nothing but perfec, all of the narrators bring the stories and characters to live with their incredible narrations.

First of all...

... I already have this series separately.  But finding out the boxset has the bonus novella… Left me NEEDING the boxset!

Let me tell you... Get the tissues ready for the first book in the series. You will be broken but warmed in return.  From there you will follow each gorgeous character through their life and watch them grow and flourish.
For me, the cherry on the top is the bonus novella.  I know there is a lot of talk of “team Jake” or “team Blake” but listening to this story really left me knowing that things just happen for a reason and things turned out right in the end.  I really hope you all enjoy this beautiful journey as I did!

You will not be disappointed by the performance of this series!

Just such excellent stories

I cannot tell you how much I LOVE this series. I don't think that Cam and Jake will ever leave my system. The added extra bonus is just great and I loved hearing things from Blake's side. Just brought it all together somehow. The narrator's do an excellent job throughout, so good in fact that you forget about them and just concentrate on the characters and story they are bringing to life. Just so good.

Fantastic series!!!

There are so many times that a series is recommended to me, and with all the hype, the series does not live up to my expectations. LJ Evans My Life as an Album exceeded my expectations and more! 41 hours of story, all tied together with fragments of songs and I never wanted it to stop. Each story stands alone, but there are recurring characters. The first one gives us that once in a lifetime love. The one boy we fall in love with when we are young and know we will marry. Cam and Jake were this couple. Next we have Mia and Derek. Now I loved Cam and Jake and felt the incredible emotions of that story, but I really loved how Mia's character came through it all. These two had quite a ride working through so many issues and Derek had me swooning. Rock Album was so much fun because I love Bon Jovi. Yes, the story is good, but being an 80's girl had me loving the beginning of each chapter! This one is alternating points of view with PJ and letters from Seth. It gives us a great insight to both sides and making us feel it all. The love, the frustration, the fear and the desire. It's all there in both of them. Evans also adds a thread of suspense, which I loved! Mix Tape has all the fun and emotional songs and lets us live with Lonnie and Wynn. Not only was this a couple easy to fall in love with, but the slow burn made it that much sweeter. And Edie!!! What a doll. Ending this fantastic series is a novella that brings everything full circle for Cam and it's so wonderful. It's like the bow on a present. This is more than a story. It's the kind of book that resonates with you, gives you all the feels and will give you a warm heart. Make sure to pick this one up!

Sarah Puckett is narrates in all 4 of the books and what a performance. Each one fits the female lead perfectly. Her talent brings out everything these women felt and truly makes the story come alive. She is amongst two other fabulous narrators. Neill Thorne narrates Seth in My Life as a Rock Album and he fits the part. He gives Seth creates all facets of his personality and lets it out in those letters. Followed by Michael Norman Johnson as Lonnie and Blake in My Life as a Mix Tape and Cam. Each one is amazing and lets us feel and understand each character. The choice of these narrators for me was key to making the stories. Enhancing the books with these voices made it come alive and had me hooked.

My Life As An Album box set.

My life as a mix tape entire review.
Each book in this series, and the extra content made for compelling listening. While the books are very different, they are all linked and I think that they are enjoyed better if read in the right order. The characters build as the series progresses. (Some of them from childhood) and seeing characters go on such a journey made this a truly special series.

The narration through the series was so impressive with each character having their voice and, personality . They were a stunning complement for the whole series.

I have reviewed each book in this set more thoroughly below.
My Life As A Country album covers the childhood, teen and young adult lives of Cam and Jake. With song titles from Taylor Swift regularly and appropriately throughout the story, they were emotive and I liked that touch.
This story has a perfect title and it as emotional as the most emotional country song.
The characters are interesting, well developed and their time together, first at next door neighbours, then as a couple. It is not a style that I have previously experienced, but I am very glad that I did.
The story is told to Jake, through Cam's experience of her love for him.
Without spoilers I cannot tell you too much, but it was moving and really well written. Moving is an understatement.
It tells of living with a chronic illness, the frustrations of the person whose life can be hindered, and those living with fear and concern for the person living with the illness.
The narration, by Sarah Puckett is told with feeling. I have not heard a bad performance from this talented lady and she really brought her A game with this performance.
The narration and the story reeled me in completely and left me with all of the feelings. I recommend it.
My life as a Pop Album
This story is a continuation of My Life As A Country Song and, is the story of Mia, Jakes sister who gave him one of her Kidneys and is still coming to terms with the fact that he still didn't survive. She sets out on an adventure with Derek, the musician who has purchased her brothers beloved car at a charity event at which he and his band performed.
I enjoyed their story and I really loved some of the beautiful lyrics from Ed Sheeran. I am intrigued by how each book features music by a different performer. It is clever and ties the album styles together perfectly.
The narration by Sarah Puckett is lovely to listen to she is a fantastic voice actor but also has a smooth southern voice that works perfectly with these characters.

My Life as a rock Album
When I started reading My Life as a Rock Album I had no liking for the male main character, in fact I came into this book with dislike for him. As the story progressed my feelings regarding Seth did change, but I did not know what outcome I wanted for his (their) story. I will say that by the end of the story I had changed my feelings about him because my feelings were based on a nasty teenager who was battling his demons. The person that he is has been shaped by the events of his life.I was rooting for him by the end.
I have not said a lot about PJ, she is also shaped by the events of the past and grew on me as the story progressed. I won't say more because if like me, you have a preconceived idea of Seth, it is good to go into the story only learning about PJ as the story develops.
For me this is a 5 star listen and turned out to be my favourite My Life As An Album story so far.
The narrators did an outstanding job with this recording. Evoking feelings with the way they tell the story and act out the differing characters.

My Life as a Mix Tape
I absolutely loved My Life as a Mixtape. It is so beautifully written and is a mix of family, angst and Romance. I like how the songs that are referenced were all so different and by such a mixture of differing music genres. I was grateful for the understanding way that L.J Evans dealt with so many different types of loss and differing types of family. I loved everything about this book.
The narration was wonderful and raw and exactly right for the story.

Cams story
This was a short but wonderful addition to the series and is Cam as seen through the eyes of her loving husband. It was the perfect finale for this box set.
