Publisher's summary

Matthew Angel is stuck. He's 41 and spent his life denying who he is and what he truly wants—until he stumbles upon a unique offering at a specialty charity auction: a Christmas Daddy experience.

Erik Garner has given up on relationships. After his last boy left, he decided it’s better to skip the heartache and stick with casual, short-term contracts. His offer of an exclusive, one-night-only Christmas encounter is all he’s willing to give.

Matthew’s older than expected, but his shy smile and eager surrender charm Erik. What starts out as a business transaction quickly gives way to a wild, thrilling intensity neither expected.

One night isn’t enough.

Sit back and take what Daddy gives you...

John Solo did an amazing job on the narration of this kinky story. This is only the 2nd story I've read or listened to of Leta Blake's.

Younger daddy older boy, is one of my favorite tropes. I'm not into shame play but I decided to give this one a chance, did I mention younger daddy!?! What I found out, I'm still not a fan of shame play (no kink shaming here though). I did love the relationship that was finally built between these two guys, it just took awhile to get there.

Matthew is like a beaten puppy just looking for love. Erik is dealing with the betrayal of his prior boy, assuming he will never have a forever boy...they always leave. It was like pulling teeth to get Erik to examine his true feelings and get off the pot.

All in all it was a good listen. If you like a strict daddy, a insecure boy with lots of baggage, and lots of hot scenes you should check this out!

Not for the faint of heart

On the surface, Matthew and Erik have an immediate connection leading into kink and romance courtesy of Matthew’s night stretching to multiple days. They deep dive into some darker psychological aspects of play as demons from past emotional wounds surface, which left me somewhat uncomfortable. Honestly, the warp speed of their relationship along with the lack of professional therapy/counseling has all sorts of flags going up for me. That said, the narration was excellent and on some levels I did actually enjoy the story.

Came for the kink stayed for the story

I really enjoyed this title. I wasn't expecting much as I wasn't familiar with the author. What I got a unique and thoughtful exploration into kink as being more than physical and even potentially healing. Bravo Leta Blake and John Solo. I'll be looking for more of their work. If you're into some hot and steamy comfort and joy this title and narrator are for you.

Christmas Kink at it's Best

Leta Blake's writing and John Solo's narration make this story come alive. One of the best MM Christmas romances I've ever read. The characters grow in so many ways I could relate to. Five stars aren't enough.

Trust Your Gut

I loved how Matthew and Erik connected. There were some moments I really worried about both of them. I respected the fact that Matthew wasn't willing to just stop moving forward with his new freedom. The last chapter was a great way to wrap up the story.

A Christmas daddy

This was my first audiobook by Leta Blake and I found it heartwarming. i like her great and wonderful writing style.
I love reading daddy/boy stories. Matthew is an older boy who doesn't have a lot of experience due to his past.
He buys his Santa Daddy at a charity ball. This one is a bit younger and comes in the form of Erik, who has been persuaded by a friend to make this appearance. Actually, he is also still struggling with the events from the past. Erik is struggling with a loss and he doesn't know if he's ready for a relationship.
But at the first time Erik and Matthew met, you could sense that they had chemistry.
At first the story developed rather slowly, but the relationship between the two develops much faster. No wonder, because the one planned night unexpectedly turns into a weekend. I really enjoyed the dynamic of an older boy and younger daddy. It was refreshing and intriguing.
At the same time, it was great to watch the development of their relationship. They do really well for each other and I liked Erik's sensitive way of responding to Matthew's needs.
Erik and Matthew were really hot together and there were some hot and spicy scenes.

John Solo did a great job bringing the story to life. He is a talented narrator and gives each character a distinct voice that fits the personality. He portrayed the emotions well and was a pleasure to listen to.

Beautiful story!

I absolutely loved this!
A beautifully written, highly emotional and super hot daddy/boy romance sublimely narrated by John Solo.
This had me hooked right from the beginning, effortlessly drawing me in. I want to say so much more about this story but, I won't, as I don't want to spoil this absolute delight for anyone.

A special Santa Daddy for Matthew

I adore Leta Blake and when I saw she had a gay BDSM Santa Christmas romance, I jumped for joy. This book did not disappoint.

I’ll start by talking about John Solo’s narration – he nailed this one. With two older, mature, MCs, he had a lot to work with and he delivered a stella performance. Just perfect.

Now to the actual story. OMG, could I relate to Matthew. He’s lived under his parents’ shadow for years. He didn’t want to disappoint them by coming out and by the time they passed, he sort of wondered if it was too late.

A missed flight had him checking out a BDSM auction and he’s struck by the photographs of a dominant Santa with a boy. Now, Matthew’s way past that age, but he wants to be that boy. Taking a chance, he drops an incredible amount at the charity auction – to have one night with a Santa Daddy.

Erik’s still reeling from the loss of his last boy – even though it happened a long time ago. He’s not sure he’s ever going to put himself out there again. Still, a good friend talks him into signing up for a charity auction. He puts his minimum bid so high, he doesn’t expect anyone to meet it.

He’s wrong.

And that miscalculation gives him the best night of his life. Or, make that a weekend, since – of course – there’s a snowstorm and the men are stranded together. I love a good forced proximity novel.

Watching the relationship develop between the two men was touching – all the while I knew they lived in different cities with very different lives. So they couldn’t get together at the end…right? Except this is a romance. I got my extra-satisfying ending.

I know I’ll never have Matthew’s luck and find love at my age, but I loved knowing an author was willing to acknowledge that older people deserve happy endings as well. This appears to be the first in a loosely connected series and I sure hope there are more books to come.

Stunning! Masterful Performance by J. Solo

What a unique and brilliantly written story! Leta Blake never fails to push the envelope when it comes to digging deep inside her characters, and I'm completely blown away by Matthew and Erik. These two men undergo an incredible journey in My December Daddy.

Leta Blake’s message of healing, the promise of peace and joy and a future both men deserve… well, it’s truly beautiful.

Audiobook fans already know what a treasure John Solo is, but he delivers an absolutely masterful performance in My December Daddy. Emotional and raw, simply gorgeous.

Matthew and Erik

This is a sweet 42 yr old virgin brought up with Religious beliefs, who sets his alarm to PM and misses his flight home, so goes to an Auction were he wins a Daddy for Christmas 1 night only. He likes the sound of it. Erik has lost his boy of 5 years and his friend talks him into the Auction as a way back in. Little did either know it would change their lives for the better. Loved it

I'm a little conflicted about this one

This book is on the longer side, and honestly it did feel long to me. For the first 75% I felt like it could have been edited down a bit. I really enjoy what I think of as 'quiet' books, where there is not much in the way of events or supporting characters, but is instead intensely focused on the main characters and their relationship. This book has that kind of set-up, but for all that I didn't feel like I got to know Matthew and Erik very well (I only finished the book yesterday but just had to look up Erik's name).

There is lots of tell, tell, tell - I am like THIS because of THAT thing in my past - and not much show. And the telling - whether dialogue or internal monologue - was a lot of repetition of the same things: Erik only having young men as boys, and them inevitably leaving, and Matthew having low self-esteem and guilt over his sexuality due to his parents and their religious beliefs.

The book picked up for me in the last part, when Matthew reclaimed his power as an adult and called Erik out on his bulls**t. I enjoyed the breaking down of the Infallible Daddy that you see in so many books (which I find tiresome and ridiculous) and the reminder that subs are adults and are not powerless in a power dynamic. There are little bits of humour in the last part - that is sadly missing through the majority of the book - which helped me to like Erik and Matthew more and to be more invested in their relationship. I find it difficult to care about relationships where the characters don't laugh together.

There are some things in this book that might be uncomfortable for some: referring to Matthew's a*se as his "bussy" (boy p*ssy); enemas (not brief); and Matthew's hyperfixation on his parents and that it is expressed sexually.

I appreciated the emphasis on consent, safety and subs having their needs met, but I'm afraid I found the sex very unsexy. It felt to me like they were so focused on playing their roles that the essence of two human beings connecting was lost.

So good, so intense

Leta Blake & John Solo team up yet again for this explosive, intense, emotional, kinky ride to discovering love, healing, and loving yourself. Matthew & Erik are amazing together, even though it takes them a little time to work out the kinks, so to speak. They finally do, and it's beautiful and everything they both needed. John Solo brought such grit and raw emotion to the already intense emotionally turbulent tale. Absolutely well done. Very raw, very intense power play & dynamic, so very good.

Sweet, Spicy & Heartwarming! Great Story & Listen🎧

This is a beautifully written and heartwarming romance, it is an original story with interesting storylines that are captivating from start to end. Matthew Angel is searching to find what he wants in a man, it took him years to come into his own sexuality and he is ready to explore and experience things. He thinks he knows what he wants, and an opportunity arises when he is stuck staying an extra night after a convention. He saw there was a charity auction and after them out he found the perfect thing to bid on, a Christmas Daddy experience. The pictures of the Daddy and his boys drew him in and he knew he had to have it, so he takes a leap and bids on and it and wins. Erik Garner, a caring and nurturing Daddy, trains his boys and they always wind up leaving him and breaking his heart, he still has not moved on since his last boy left. His friend has told him he needs to get back in the game and convinces him to offer a Daddy experience for the charity auction. It surprised him how high the bidder offered for the experience, even more surprised it was not some young trust fund kid who won, but an older boy. It was great to watch these two get to know each other, Erik was so gentle and caring with Matthew, understanding too. The two got along well, like they were made for each other, but both knew their time together was limited. Erik is not looking for a relationship and definitely does not do long distance and Matthew lives and works hours away. Bad weather buys them more time together than originally planned, which does not help make it easier to say goodbye. Matthew would have loved more with Erik, but it was not meant to be, or was it? This wonderfully plotted Daddy/Boy romance has the perfect balance of drama, heartfelt emotions, and romance. Leta Blake, thank you for another great story and emotional rollercoaster ride.

🎧📚🎧 And for the fabulous narration, Leta Blake cast the perfect narrator to bring her characters and story to life. John Solo is a superbly talented narrator and a versatile voice artist. His portrayal of each character is spot on and he gives each character a voice that fits their persona perfectly and is believable in every role he plays. He set the perfect tone for the story, captured all the characters’ emotions and projected them into his performance and had you feeling every single one. John Solo is an entertaining storyteller and a pleasure to listen to. Thank you for another amazing listen.

Wow, I loved it

A Daddy for Christmas, even if you have to win him in an auction.

This is for you if you want a feel-good Christmas book with a daddy/boy. Full of heartfelt firsts, a beautifully written story that you will want to listen to year after year. It handles an older boy who is a virgin with religious parents, who, until they died, hadn't been able to actually admit he was gay. Such a sad start to his life, but Daddy eventually helped. You still get sad moments throughout.

John Solo did a fantastic job of the audio, bringing the characters to life. I did speed up to 1.15 on audible, which is usual.

Respectful Daddy/Boy Dynamic

I’ve never listened to John Solo before, what an excellent, talented narrator who tapped into the character’s emotions. He made this book better.
I like Leta Blake as an author and while this is a mostly sweeter and kinder Daddy/Boy dynamic than I’m used to, there is the issue of using shame as a kink. That adds a bit of bite and moments where it required delicate handling. Blake does it well.
The biggest problem with this book is it is waaaayyy too long, pages could have been scrapped. Enough with the enemas as well. It may have served a purpose, exposing oneself, but it wasn’t truly necessary. Other things would have worked better, in my opinion. Discussion. Other play.
What was supposed to be a night - being snowed in extended this by several days - really dragged.
In the end, I’m happy for the MCs and it kept me involved.
