What did you love best about Mutated?

This was an excellent book and as a retired LEO I loved it more!

Have you listened to any of Todd McLaren’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

Todd McLaren's performance and reading styler kept me on the edge of my seat. He creates a visual movie as you listen to him.

I like the characters in the book sometimes I didn't like the fact that they put more emphasis on the Red Man

Nice conclusion

Nice conclusion to this story. I enjoyed that we got an update on some characters from previous books and a couple characters had an opportunity to continue their journey here. I was wondering what happened to Nate Royal who was immune from book 2 Apocalypse of the Dead. I don't want to give any spoilers so I'll just say read and enjoy, I did!!!

A great addition to the zombie genre

What made the experience of listening to Mutated the most enjoyable?

Todd McLaren does a good job of narration although he's not really that good at the female parts, but you have to give him an "A" for effort. It goes beyond just a zombie breakout with the addition of the mutated self-aware zombie leader. This book is supposed to be a continuation of the Apocalypse of the Dead.

What other book might you compare Mutated to and why?

Kind of resembles the Zombie Fallout books by Mark Tufo. Not only do the survivors have to deal with the zombie infestation, but they also have to deal with an extra threat, someone who can control the zombies.

Which scene was your favorite?

Of course at the end. I don't want to tell the exact part it would spoil the ending.

Who was the most memorable character of Mutated and why?

That would be Nicky cause somebody's got to be the butt kicker.

I didn't expect this to be as good as it was and I loved the twist with the black shits.

Well I thought it was going to be another conventional zombie book but I was surprised to find it so different from what I was used to reading.. Especially with the red man being a zombie and Nate being a unlikely hero .. Overall a great read ⭐⭐⭐

You disappointed me again McKinney

This author really knows how to frustrate me. Last book was weak because of the big deal about money and how wrong it is to steal paper money in a zombie apocalypse. This time, I don't like anything in the story. At all. Its really dumb. And the characters really do stupid things. But the writing itself is pretty talented, and the narration really good.

Seriously, a red, smart Zombie? Oh, he's not just a regular smart kind that can nudge a door open or climb in a window...this is a double-tapping ipad-using zombie GOD with the tactical genius of Napoleon Bonaparte. Com'on, whats the point of it being a zombie story at all? Oh, and he's also horny and likes sodomy. Apparently getting sodomized by a zombie doesn't infect you. But he's not gay, his sexual preference is also intact.

And ofcourse he leads an army of zombies. The kicker is that he leads an army of humans too. Yeah, he conquers human compounds, slaughters their families and friends, and then they join him, with gusto. Not one human thinks of putting a bullet in his brain when he turns his back. And why the heck is he red for? Who painted his back for him?

Its ridiculous is what it is.

There are so many frustratingly stupid situations in this book. Run Ben Richardson Run! Isn't it Ben? Blurb says Bob. I don't know, but when someone tells you to run three times, maybe you should when surrounded by zombies rather than babbling and playing "roving camera" and eventually losing both your machete and rifle. I almost fast forwarded just to get to the part where he started running. If he was barely smarter than a zombie he should have shot the red zombie ordering humans about when he first saw him.

Nate ends up the hero. Yeah, that lucky, psychotic, dumb and murderously horny guy that is the salvation for humanity. Nate was actually portrayed well in this book, not like the other book. He is clumsy, but not frustratingly so this time. The characters were generally well portrayed, just the things they did were stupid.

Sheesh, its just one red zombie. How hard is it to get a sniper rifle and shoot him.

This is less a zombie book and more a Lord of the USB (zombie cure) stick, with a band of heroes traveling to the land of Mordor.

Like a singer needs a song writer, McKinney needs a ..uhm..plot generator. Just come up with a better idea next time! Doesn't need to be over the top.
