It was just a stroll on the hill - until the mist came down. In Murder on the Tor, the third Exham on Sea mystery, clues to a present-day crime lead baker and chocolatier Libby Forest back into the historic past of mysterious Glastonbury, a place of myth and legend where truth merges with fable.

With the enormous Carpathian Sheepdog, Bear, at her side, she sets out to unravel the mystery and bring the killer to justice.

This book just isn’t a mystery worth reading. The writing is good, so if you want to read a light novel with incidental death go ahead. But the plot is tenuous and uninteresting.

Boring

The story has interesting elements but I never feel invested. The narration is dull, almost lifeless. The combination is very meh. A good story to listen to when you want to go to sleep. More development of story elements and a snappier delivery could help add a few stars.

It portrayed the Tor climb as easier than it is. But it was quite enjoyable.

I just love the simple mystery and slight romance. the stories are well written and clever.

I’ve given this particular narrator a fair chance (3 books) and I just can’t.
No matter how good the plot is, or how good the characters are, or how clever the humor, I CANNOT LISTEN TO THIS NARRATOR’S CONSTANT WHINING. She does Libby a great disservice because she makes her sound pathetic and needy even when the author (I’m assuming) has no intent to make her seem that way!
I’m skipping all of the books read by this narrator and going to the later ones where Charlotte Stevens reads. She does the other series by this author and I think she does at least 200x better than Jennifer Dixon. I’m honestly surprised that this type of cadence is appealing to anyone.

Terrible narrator
