Publisher's summary

A dead man in the woods. A corrupt game warden. A silver-tongued preacher.

And a whole lot of drugs.

When Sheriff Elven Hallie investigates a murder, the evidence seems self-explanatory. But when he digs in, things get more complicated.

Following a lead, he visits a revival in the woods led by smooth-talking preacher Spencer Caldwell. The hunters in the area are already angry, having filed numerous complaints about the operation. But it isn’t until Elven goes to see the man himself that he knows something is off.

If that wasn’t enough, game warden Jesse Parsons arrives in Dupray to assist in the murder investigation. But Elven quickly questions Jesse’s motives when he’s found being friendly with Hollis, the head of the Starcher criminal family.

When a witness is discovered, it leads to more questions. And a lot more bodies.

But when his deputy is put in danger, Elven knows he’s running out of time and must take a more direct approach to solve the crime.

Can he solve the murders before someone he loves is killed, or will his drastic measures cost him more than just his job?

If you’re a fan of C.J. Box’s Joe Pickett, Craig Johnson’s Longmire, and Jeff Carson’s David Wolf, then you will be sucked into this thrilling mystery by Drew Strickland!

Great continuation of the series!

This series just gets better! The story was well done and kept me guessing about characters through out. I was on the edge of my seat all the way. Love the addition of Jesse. His character was such a great compliment to the others and I hope he makes another appearance. Cant wait for the next book to see how Elvins hunches play out!

Good story too graphic in parts

You can tell this was written by a man because the women in the book are so stereotypical. Too graphic in areas. It’s like “ let’s see how gross I can make this”..

Good story dumb main characters

The main characters in this series are dumb as a box of rocks. The story line is good though, so I will keep reading the books.

This writer is very unaccomplished. It seems that his objective is to thoroughly disgust the reader.

This was by far the worst book I have ever read. It is absolutely sleazy. Do not waste your time.

Not a pleasant read

The author seems to dwell more on stomach turning descriptions of outhouses and contents than he does on developing the characters.
Storyline was good but characters are not very bright.
