Publisher's summary

The peaceful surroundings of the historic seaport, Mystic, Connecticut, enticed Liz and Garret Adams to leave their hectic careers and move aboard their sailboat, Sloopy. Only a year had passed when they stumbled onto the remains of a young, Naval officer, who washed ashore at Napatree Point. While waiting for Garret to return with the police, Liz is gripped by feelings that she does not understand and would plunge her into a treacherous search for the killer.

With the help of the local psychic, Liz discovers that the harmonious group of tenants that share the dock she calls home is not as it appears. Anger, hurt and rage boil beneath a thin veneer.

When a second body is found by fishermen in Block Island Sound, the morbid game of cat and mouse evolves, thrusting Liz into a battle for her life. Friend or foe, she does not know, but the killer looms in the shadows.

Once this book grabs you it will be till the END!

I found myself caught up in the first moments of the narration. Like a visual opening of a movie. Tony slowly closing in on his prey. A cadet from Annapolis tied up and drugged. As he comes to, Tony slowly cutting the buttons off his jacket. Caressing him as the cadet realizes that this was not the women he met at the bar the night before. Asking what do you want with me. Pleading to leave him go. Of course I will let you go says Tony as he then stabs him and pushes him into the water to never to be seen again! or so as he thinks. Great start isn't it? Now moving into the story as the other main characters evolve are Liz and Garret Adams. A middle age couple so tired of the busy life that they left for Mystic, CT to live on a boat for a slower pace in life. Well, so they thought. The couple soon finds themselves propelled into the murder of the cadet. Upon finding the missing body of the cadet a few days later washed up along the shore during their boat outing. Liz starts to get her psychic feelings and does not like what she is feeling and hearing from the cadet. "What are you saying?" asked her husband. Just get the police begs Liz. And so the couple especially Liz is now head deep in wanting to find the killer since the cadet asked her to do so. Except the captain tells her that the police will do the job in finding the killer.

As the audio narration proceeds you cannot help but keep listening to see what happens next! The author has done a marvelous job of taking the first introduce main character Tony that in your mind you will as I did think "Okay he is a cross dresser with issues". Only to find out there is an even darker secret that will come out later in the book. The investigating police officer like most I have encountered in other crime dramas finally comes out saying "Leave the investigating to us! Just share your info." That was until Liz starts getting threats and they think she is next! She finds herself sharing her concerns with some friends but should she? That is something that she and you the reader will find out!

Is her vision of the cadet real. She sees a psychic suggested by a friend and only finds that what she feels and other info that just may help find the killer. But everything she is told is like a riddle and shares that with the police. This is the point where okay I have it figured out what is going on and then the author does a 180 degree turn in the story keeping you listening to see what is next right to that last exciting moment when all is revealed!

The narration by Gillian Vance was fantastic. I love when a narrator can change up the characters voices so that you have a better feel for the characters. Another female narrator added to my growing list to watch for and listen to for future books. Nice flow from one to the other characters. So not to spoil the story you really need to download and listen to this great storyline. This book is not intended for YA - I feel that over 20's but I feel those in my age range of 50's will really relate to the characters much better. Last note on this book is the cover design. I feel when you look at this very plain not a I want to read or listen to this book as I have with a lot of books I get! I feel maybe the ghostly image of the cadet over the sailboats. Knife lying at his feet.
