Resumen del Editor

From the author of One Pink Line comes a story about letting go of the past and finding bravery in the depths of fear. Set on the sun-soaked beaches of Thailand and the rough waters of the Indian Ocean, The Unimaginable paints a vivid portrait of a young woman on a journey to find herself—and her harrowing fight for survival.

After twenty-eight years of playing by the rules, Jessica Gregory moves from her small Indiana town to Phuket, Thailand. But her newfound routine is upended with the arrival of Grant Flynn, a captivating, elusive man who is sailing around the world while trying to move on from a past tragedy. Jessica volunteers to help crew Grant's boat, Imagine, on a passage across the Indian Ocean and finds herself falling in love with him as the voyage gets underway. But when disaster strikes, Jessica must summon her courage as the crew is confronted by unspeakable terrors - and, aboard a boat named for such promise, comes the unimaginable.

Good Story, but the narrator has "vocal fry"...ugh

What did you love best about The Unimaginable?

The story was good. I was pleasantly surprised as its not in my normal genre.

What other book might you compare The Unimaginable to and why?

I'm not sure I have a comparison. Sorry!

Did Amy McFadden do a good job differentiating all the characters? How?

She did, but I found her voice very annoying. She sounds Like someone that would be hanging out with the Kardashian fam. Her pronunciations are teeny-boppy, for example when she says the word "said" it comes out sounding like "sad". She has "vocal fry", if you don't know what it is, do a Google search.

Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?

I really liked the scene when Jessica is confessing to Grant that she read his dead wifes letter. I was expecting the predictable romantic\betrayal outcome of him pushing her away and her spending the remainder of the book trying to win back his trust. (Eye roll) instead, he said it was no big deal and they moved on. It was very refreshing.

Any additional comments?

I think I would even give the narrator a second chance....but she needs to lose the weird vocal fry thing......please!

Beautifully captivating!

This story grabbed me from the beginning and never let go. I felt every emotion reading this story - amusement, fear, romance, wanderlust, excitement, pain, love, and forgiveness. I laughed as much as I cried. The author's note at the end indicates that this story is inspired by two actual events, and that made it so clear as to why this story feels so realistic - the details, emotions, and events are so well written that the reader feels there with the characters. This is a romantic suspense that will captivate you, fill you up, and break you to pieces all in one beautiful story.
I love Amy McFadden as the narrator of this story. She does a fantastic job bringing the characters to life.

The Unimaginable Good Book @$7.34!

Jessica Gregory is a teacher that is looking to take control of her life. She has always lived in a small town in Indiana and decides after the death of her mother to move to Phuket, Thailand. She teaches English at one of the local schools. While she is there, she takes on a second job as a waitress at a marina. Jessica is enjoying being in Thailand but she begins to feel like she is in the same rut that she was in while living in Indiana. So, Jessica decides to put a flyer up that she would be willing to help work on a boat. She is contacted to help out on a boat and during her interview she realises the owner of the boat is someone she has met during her time in Thailand. His name is Grant Flynn and she begins to develop a crush on him. However, there are times that she can't get a good read on him, but he seems to be getting over something from his past. Jessica is finally hired to work on their boat. She thinks she is in for a great adventure but along the way something terrible happens. I can't give anymore past this point or the twist would be completely given away!

I enjoyed this book. It was entertaining and kept me interested the whole time. The second half of the book was so compelling that I couldn't put it down. The story was so intense and heartbreaking at times. I can't imagine going through any of the events that happen. Grant and Jessica both have to face things that they go through. This story ultimately is about letting go and going after what you really want in life. This story shows that people should do that before it's too late. Now, everyone listen to this book so that we can discuss what happens, because I'm dying over here!!!

Amy McFadden was really good with the delivery of the story

This is an excellently written tale with interesting characters. By the middle of the book the unimaginable happens and I couldn't stop listening.

Mystery, Drama & Romance All in One

An enjoyable listen that held my interest. The ending is a bit predictable and rushed, but it ultimately delivered. The inspirations for the story were the most interesting, though. The narrator is very good, which makes listening a lot better.

Good Adventure

Would you say that listening to this book was time well-spent? Why or why not?

Yes, an enjoyable story..

What was your reaction to the ending? (No spoilers please!)

Love HEAs.

Would you listen to another book narrated by Amy McFadden?

This narrator is very one dimensional with all the many books I've listened to her read. She always sounds the same and always gushes. It's the GUSHING that I'm getting tired of. I'm thinking she gets so many gigs because she must not charge as much as others in her field.

Could you see The Unimaginable being made into a movie or a TV series? Who should the stars be?

Yes because of the gorgeous places in the story. Josh Duhamel or Bradley Cooper and Jennifer Lawrence

WOW. Loved this story

This was a great story. Wish it had left out the death but understand it made a point especially after listening to the true stories that fed into the creation of the story. Thoroughly enjoyable. Could listen/read again with a new outlook after listening to extras at the end. GREAT AUTHOR!

Stick with reading this one over listening to it...

The story in this novel is intriguing. However, the performance renders the main character obnoxious and nearly detestable. Moreover, there is absolutely no need to try and make the male lead sound like he is auditioning for a part in fifty shades of grey. There are some ridiculous and completely unnecessary love scenes in the story. Additionally, and perhaps this is an issue of the performance again, the writing is stilted and clipped. The first two thirds of the novel are not engrossing enough to detract from the simple sentence writing.

Once the story picks up, it is easier to get past the horrible narration. It also starts to seem as though the writing becomes more complex- though, again, this may simply be because the content becomes more serious and the narrator can’t read the main character as a giggly idiotic school girl.

Bottom line- The Unimaginable is probably better suited to book format than audiobook. (Though maybe it would be more bearable as an audiobook with a different narrator... Kate reading could do it justice, I’m sure.)

Highly Intriguing

The complexities in the characters... The overall plot... The imagery.. All are outstanding in this book. I could not bear to put it down.
