Publisher's summary

The 14th in the Mrs. Pollifax series, Mrs. Pollifax Unveiled joins its predecessors as a delightful source of entertainment and suspense. After all her harrowing adventures in various parts of the world, America’s most endearing and unlikely CIA agent is bored with her gardening. When headquarters calls with a deadly mission, she’s ready with passport in hand.

After single-handedly thwarting hijackers on a flight to the Middle East, a young American woman has become an instant celebrity. Following television interviews at the airport in Damascus, she disappears. Was she kidnapped by the terrorists, or is she just hiding? Posing as the girl’s aunt, Mrs. P. searches for her "niece" and uncovers a sinister plot that could send shock waves around the world.

Part of the anticipation of hearing about Mrs. Pollifax’s latest adventures is knowing that narrator Barbara Rosenblat will be part of the package. Both popular in their own right, they make an irresistible team.

Mrs. Pllifax

Years ago I discovered Mrs. Pollifax. I couldn't get enough of her and proceeded to track
down and read with great delight the entire series. I continued to check the shelf in the
library where Dorothy Gilman was kept for a long time after hoping for a new book but
never finding one. When I found this one I was thrilled and very pleased to have enjoyed
it as much as I expected.

Love these books…but

I really enjoy these books, and I enjoy the narrator, but whoever is doing the producing/editing really should edit out her large breaths and awful mouth noises. When you’re listening with earbuds, it’s disturbing.

Wonderful Series

This was a great series! They take you on a new adventure where you meet wonderful characters who work together to get themselves out of trouble. Mrs. Pollifax is a wonderfully, troublesome character!

Hopefully Not the Last!

I still love Mrs. Pollifax. I remember reading the paperbacks decades ago.
She was the most practical, nonsensical spy I had ever met.

A delightful series

This concludes the Mrs Pollifax series, though there isn’t anything in the story that would have indicated a closing of the series. I doubt highly that you’d be considering this book unless you already read/listened to the others. So, if you enjoyed the others, you’ll enjoy this one, too. Sure, there are some expected moments - a karate chop to save the day, which might be kind of cliche at this point in these books, but on the other hand, you keep thinking when is the moment that she’ll save them with a karate chop. This is a rather special series because there are quite a few mystery/crime series featuring women, even older women, but this is the only spy/intrigue type series featuring such a character, and with that amusing atmosphere. Sure, there is suspense, but it’s kind of light and entertaining nevertheless. I do wish there were other such series, but whenever I ask for recommendations for something similar, I’m referred to crime series. So, it’s been fun while it lasted. Barbara Rosenblat is superb, as always. At the end there is a rather lengthy interview with the author, Dorothy Gilman, and I didn’t finish it. I found it to be such an anticlimax. She was a really imaginative writer who created a great character in this series, but the person in the interview was not at all impressive, which shows that some people can express themselves better through their writing than they themselves might. Listen to the book. You can skip the interview.

Finally!

I love the Pollifax series and owned all except this one. I started listening to it with a different narrator, and it was so bad I couldn't even finish. I sadly returned it. So when I finally found it with Barbara Rosenblatt, I was thrilled! Thank you, Audible!

Wonderful to the last word

I’m so sorry that this is the last book in the series. It’s saying goodbye to a good friend and adventurous spirit.

So good that you finally released this!

Boy, all these years I have only had the abridged version of this book by another reader and it was pretty awful. So great to hear this last book in its entirety. But that’s not all, it also has a wonderful interview with Dorothy, which is a great way to end the series. Thank you audible!

Great series

Gilman does it again. Love the series. May have to suspend belief at times; but, in all mysteries one has to.
