When Elinor migrated west with her family, the last thing she expected was for sickness to take them all from her within months.

Now, she is left alone in their small cabin in the Montana wilderness, with winter approaching fast.

Elinor refuses to let her fear of the cold, hard months ahead defeat her. She is determined to survive and decides to place her trust in the capable hands of her neighbor, Liam.

The locals all describe Liam as a solitary "hermit", who prefers to keep to himself - which is why Elinor is surprised to find herself drawn to him in ways that aren’t necessarily respectable.

But with winter almost upon them, Elinor must put aside her attraction for Liam and trust him to teach her all she needs to know, if she is to have any chance of seeing the blue skies of spring once again.

Yet as the weeks pass and Elinor feels herself growing closer to her rugged neighbor, she begins to wonder:
