Publisher's Summary

Through the cyber-fog of war, the national security advisor had one worry: Would he be able to save the US from defeat?

Blain serves at the pleasure of the president. Brought over from the last administration, there were few people more trusted. He knew the biggest threat was the deepfakes. China’s AI played war like a grand master.

In what seemed like an instant, the cyberattacks crippled networks, and then the world lost faith in everything on the internet. Global financial markets were in turmoil as supply chains ceased to function. The greatest propaganda campaign ever tore apart the fabric of society. Could China’s expansionist goals be contained?

The United States and NATO responded. The US and Royal Marines were called upon to do something they hadn’t done since the days of the Pacific War - wage an island-hopping campaign. Was a new alliance between old foes their only hope?

Includes a special note from the author.

Military Fiction Done Right

Wow! This was a very good listen. Tons of action. Bullets whizzing, sonars pinging, AAMs locking on target, cyber shenanigans all over the place and an evil Chinese AI creating mayhem…….. What else can you ask for? I eagerly await the 3rd installment in this series. Mr. Vietor narrated like the pro he is. I highly recommend this audiobook. Drop the dime, it’s worth your time.

Had no ending.

It was fun listening to the Chinese kick the butts of American, Japanese, Spanish, Dutch, Italian, and so on. The worst part is the story literally ends while the US President is in meetings asking for help in figuring out how to beat the Chinese forces in Latin America. Good writers are able to resolve storylines in a series. Here they just expect you to buy the next book. I guess a lot of folks do. I won't.

Too Long and Incongruous

Halfway through the second book and probably not going to finish. Strong plot but no main characters to follow. it feels like a group of poor short stories that may or may not be connected. Love the military and strategy aspects but it's not calling me back. This book is missing "that thing" to love or hate

Fascinating, Appalling, and Prescient

I remain spellbound by this amazing story. It's as complex as a fine Italian sportscar, yet the authors have me so engaged that complexity is not an issue. I don't know how they manage to provide depth for the characters when there are so many of them, but I do feel committed to them in an intriguing way.

This is masterful storytelling. I sincerely hope it's not prophetic.

Great story

I enjoyed the book lots of action keeps you guessing thru the whole book , the only problem I had was trying to figure out who was who during the war trying to keep up was tuff. the narrator was good his voice sounded the same with some characters I belive thats why it was so hard to no who was who .

Not on a Par with Volume 1

I thoroughly enjoyed all aspects of Volume I and immediately moved onto volume II. Unfortunately, I was disappointed. Marc Victor did a fantastic narration as he did in the first volume. But this book seemed to be one battle after another with a story line that in my opinion was lacking any complexity, suspense or intrigue.

Spellbinding

A scary story about something which could happen and which after reading the book is even more plausible. Nitty gritty and you can feel the bullets and the terror and fear of the soldiers. Brilliantly researched and realistic

Disappointing after Vol 1

Really we enjoyed Vol 1 which was fast paced where you wanted to keep listening. Vol 2 is descriptive of battle after battle with no real cohesive storyline.

Fantastic second book in the series

A really wonderful listen, with just the right balance between action, politics and general story. The narrator, as always, does an excellent job of bringing the characters to life. Can't wait for the next in the series.
