Publisher's Summary

Vince Ciacci wanted to be a "Made Guy". From the time he left the brutality of upstate New York's Coxsackie Reformatory, he worked for "Wiseguys", committing armed robberies, collecting for the Mob, and dreaming of the day that he would "get his button".

He never made it into the Mafia's inner sanctum. Why? He was too crazy and too violent. Hooked on drugs and alcohol, Vince was a loose cannon, so dangerous that his own crew considered taking him out.

This is his story, told in his own voice. It's the story of a guy who, by all rights, should be dead or in prison today. Come along for the ride in a story of true crime like you've never heard before.

"Ciacci's colorful New York accent sounds like he's straight from central casting. His delivery is casual and captivating. He presents his life as is, without apology, and often ends his stories with a self-deprecating chuckle that seems to suggest he can't believe his past himself." - Publishers Weekly (audio review)

Hits Hard

Vince has lived a life. His voice and the way he described each story, and all the details; it really sank in and grabbed ahold of me. His turn around is amazing. He left quite an impression with his daily commitments post mob associate, and how he looks at doing positive instead of truly negative actions on a daily basis. I was quite impressed.

WTF?

I liked this. Not sure why exactly. Maybe his honesty. Maybe his familiar story. Maybe his NY accent. But you will be drawn into his life with no holds barred. His language is strong. But that's how we spoke then in NY. NOT at home of course. You will enjoy listening to this.

More of a story than audible book reading but good

Vince tells crazy stories of his crazy years associating with the mob and definitely keeps the audience's attention. He is not reading by any stretch just telling stories from him point of view but I loved it.

Small thing but worth mentioning...the music in between I felt did not match the tone of the story think they could have made a better selection.

Overall I enjoyed it and it's an awesome success story of man on a dangerous path who turned it around.

This isn’t a book

This isn’t a book, it’s a guy telling off the cuff stories. Lots of “uhhh” and “ya know” and such. I will definitely be returning this “book” or glorified podcast.

Sadly a miss 😔

I admire what Vince accomplished but......who ever put this together did a very poor job. I really don't think there was any editing at all. I usually roll my eyes when someone complains about editing I have noticed it but never complain. But this was done so poorly I can't help but complain . But Vince I wish you the best and admire you.

Don't waste your time!

This is the most racist, sexist repetitive book I've listened to and I've listened to many. He even says a young girl who was gang raped asked for it! He repeats himself over and over from chapter to chapter. Can't figure out why this gets high ratings.

Heartwarming

This was truly a heartfelt story of a man's struggle to do what he knew was necessary to survive.
