Layla Dupree has given up on love.

She’s waded through all of the fish in the sea, each one more disappointing than the last. Apparently owning the bakery at Inglewild’s most romantic destination does not help one’s love life—despite her best efforts. All she wants is a partner who gives her butterflies, not someone who ghosts her at dinner and leaves her with the check.

Good thing Caleb Alvarez has the perfect solution.

After saving Layla from another date gone bad, he has a simple proposition: one month of no-strings dating. He’ll do his best to renew her faith in men, while she rates his dating game. It’s a win-win situation. All the benefits of dating, without the added pressure of feelings and unmet expectations.

But there’s one ingredient they haven’t considered: the chemistry between them is red hot, and the urge to take things to the next level is more tempting than Layla’s double fudge mocha brownies.

Will the heat between them boil over? Or will it be another case of mixed signals?

If not for the male narrator, I would’ve rated it higher. Voice didn’t fit the character. Female narrator was great.

Story is sweet but…

Of the three, this is my least favorite. The story is contrived and loaded with self doubt. Self doubt that gets obnoxiously interruptive to the flow. Narration is similar to the other 2 books. Wanted to love it, but it’s just ok.

First of all, I absolutely loved this story. But I’ll say the narrators did such an incredible job with this story they way they made me feel all of the emotions, the tone and overall performance was beautiful and I loved this audiobook.

Perfection

The accents and voice were annoying. The man a little too feminine for a smut book for me. Not my favorite of the love light series.

Not my favorite

Although I like the stories and characters of this town, this book was difficult to get through as the story kind of drug on, and the narration was very distracting. Her voice was too soft and mature, and his voice was too feminine; neither voice was doing it for me.

3 / 5 ⭐⭐⭐️
2.5 / 5 🌶️
Spicy chapters: 12, 16, 21, 22

Dual POV 🙌

Caleb (MMC) and Layla (FMC)

Pros:

The spicy 🌶 scenes are well written, but be warned that there's a lot of teasing and not a lot of the actual act.

The MC's of the previous books in the series partake in the story, wich was lovely!

Cons:
This book is a slow burn, and the plot advances, imo at a very slooooow pace 🐌. I feel like it took ma ages to finally get together the end of 'Mixed Signals'.

Ok, Caleb has cute dimples. We get it 👌 😩 No need to repeat this fact in every single chapter 🙄.

The plot is very simple and straightforward: two aquitances who see each other often and find each other attractive decide to fake date for a month to "practice", as they are both unlucky in the love department.
My problem with this premise is that there's no real obstacle for the MC's not to really date, just the fact that Layla isn't inclined to date men from her own town for some strange reason 🤷🏼‍♀️. I don't think that it's a spoiler to reveal that obviously as they get to know each other better, they feel more attracted to each other, and the two MC's catch feelings towards the other... 🙄. It's not the most original plot, and as mentioned before, the story dragged on, and I got bored more than once.

How are these people not overweight when they are either cooking or eating pastries/ice cream/cake, what seems to be all day? 🍰🍥🍡🍧🍨🍦🧁🍮🍭

Final thoughts: The story is pretty simple and cute, with low stakes and an FMC who is oblivious about how the MMC feels towards her. The author is a great writer, so the descriptions of delicious pastries are abundant - which made me drool. I had to interrupt my read to pick up snacks more than once 😆.

Happy reading! 📚

Low stakes, cute story

This was the sweetest of the entire series and I think it is because the MC seemed to be much younger than the other two books, but still steamy. The small town setting in all the books was so fun and funny. Very likable characters. This could be a stand alone but I think more enjoyable after reading the other two stories. I really enjoyed this authors writing and the narration was great. I recommend this feel good series.

Fake dating turns true love! The narration was much better in this one too. Not sure why others were annoyed by the doubt - the FMC had good reason to feel the way she did. Can’t wait for the next book!!!

Fav of series!

WHY DID THE ONE NON-HISPANIC HAVE MORE OF AN ACCENT THAN THE ACTUAL HISPANICS?!?!

The narrator had Charlie (who was in the previous books) sound like Antonio Banderas. Meanwhile Caleb, Alex and the rest of the Alverez family sound very Americanized.

Poor choice in character accents

Another fun continuation of the lovelight series. It was sweet and sincere and enjoyable. Can’t wait to read the next one.
