Bad

This book was horrible. Tedious. Boring. Flip flopped all over the place. Couldn’t even force my self to finish it.

Good book

Compared to the first book our detective still has no intuition what do ever, but I love her anyway. Glad she’s kind of controlling her aggression - using it as needed. I enjoyed it.

Slow start, but gets better

Nicely plotted. I didn’t figure it out till the last hour. Good characters. Scottish location is based on real places in Edinborough as far as I can tell.

Stong Female Lead

I enjoy the diversity of characters, especially the female lead. Hamlin is flawed but her strength carry’s her through her adventures.

Heavy accent

The accent was so heavy that I could not understand a lot of it. Violence

Did get past the first chapter

There is no reason for the vulgar profanity used in telling this story. I am disappointed the author would think everyone has abandoned perfect good use of English for the gutter language used to assault us with.

Keeps you guessing

I really enjoyed this book, the characters are all solid and don’t rely on tropes. The story is very well crafted and it has lots or twists and turns. I also like that the so called good guys are flawed and sometimes really unlikeable. It makes them human. Would highly recommend.

Anarchy in Slow Motion

Unusual narration style, read slowly, beautifully and deliberately, reveals a tale of drug dealers wiping each other out, while PI Hanlon investigates. A full panoply of rogues and rascals cause mayhem and murder, What becomes of her dog and the filleted rabbits in her fridge? Strangely mesmeric. ENJOYABLE

great fast paced action

I loved this book and the reader is terrific. The story never flags for a heartbeat. This is the second in the series and I can't believe they were free. I'm already buying the third book and can't wait to listen to more of Hanlon. The reader is superb and each character is very distinct so the story is very easy to follow.

Good listen

I really enjoyed this audio book- especially the narration. Definitely worth a listen. Goodish plot, maybe a little drawn out towards the end but certainly superior to a lot of detective novels around.

Great !

This was better than the first one. Hanlan is such an interesting character .The author feeds us little bits of information about her....keeps us guessing. Great story, some really scary moments!! loved it, looking forward to listening to number 3 in the series.

Missing for Goof

Great narration. The accents fit these stories perfectly. Carolyn Bonnyman you are amazing as the narrator. I enjoyed the plot. I like the way the characters are slowly developing over these two books. Agree with other reviewers that perhaps there was an over eloquence of words that became more fillers than relevance. Good mix of predicability and twists. I enjoyed the book for what it is.
