Terrible writing leaves you flat
What should be powerful, meaningful and moving stories are instead lists of faceless patients. A good writer evokes feelings in her readers; a bad one names her own feelings. What should be the good parts of the book are bland, pointless, and empty; the tedious parts -- like the naming of the horses -- are insufferable.
