Chandler Hendricks hates his life. Socially awkward and a near shut-in, Chandler spends his time caring for his ailing mother and watching the neighbors from his window.

His favorite person to watch is his next-door neighbor Samantha. Young and beautiful, she would be the woman of any man’s dreams. Chandler knows he will make Samantha happy, if she just gave him a chance.

Chandler’s finally ready to make a change and live the life he always wanted…even if it already belongs to someone else.

Couldn’t stop listening

The neighbor you never want to have. What a frighteningly good story! I found myself wanting Chandler to get away with it, which is CRAZY. This was a great short read, I listened to it on Audible and the narration was subpar but I got used to it so it was fine. Definitely recommend if you want a read in one sitting horror story!

Realistic Horror

This definitely took some turns that I was NOT expecting!!!
I think this story was well written and TC King did a great job narrating. The ending was sad and little bit infuriating lol but not quite as infuriating as the ending to Stolen Tongues so I cant be too mad about it lol Plus...there aren't happy endings in horror so it really should have come at no surprise.
I think that LM Kaplin's imagination definitely came up with a scary story that is all too realistic because people do this stuff every day! I mean ....look at the story behind Gypsy Rose lol

Over all a good read.... or ...listen ... I definitely recommend this for people who like the more realistic horrors ...from the POV of the "bad guy" ... people who love the horror where the monster is a person. Definitely worth getting into and its fairly short so it is a one sitting book. ....also....congrats to LM Kaplin on this story making the final 32 in the indie brawl in Books of Horror!!!

Unexpected twist!

This is IRL nightmare fuel! Chandler is the stereotypical creepy guy who lives with his mother and is obsessed with his neighbor, Samantha. And if you think you know what happens next, you’re probably incorrect. This story will keep you engaged start to finish. The twist at the end!? Oh mylanta!! Well done!

This was WILD

First- thank you to LM Kaplin for this free audiobook for review!
Went into this one fairly blind having only a vague idea of what it was about. The character was completely unhinged from the start! A good portrayal of a murderous incel for sure. From stalking the neighbor to killing people and not realizing they’re even dead this MC blurred the lines of fantasy and reality so much it was a rollercoaster. And that ending?! What?!

5 stars

LM Kaplin said psychological thriller and they delivered. You could feel the delusional and unhinged mind of Chandler and the internal battle Samantha was going through.

This is a solid little thriller

The story is solid. The characters needed a little more development. I would have loved more of a devolution for Chandler. Though it was a quick enjoyable read.

This was my first book by Kaplin. This had a great storyline with a surprise ending that I didn’t expect. I was hooked from the first chapter.

TC King’s narration was excellent. I look forward to reading more from Kaplin.

A neighbor that you desperately don't want

*4.5 stars*

Chandler is a single man in his 30s who lives with and cares for his elderly mother. He's known in the neighborhood for an awkward shut in who rarely leaves the house. He's surrounded by his mother's whining and disapproval for how his life turned out, yet completely relies on him.
Chandler's favorite hobby is neighbor watching, particularly his next door neighbor, Samantha. She has a young son, Dylan, and (in his eyes) a mean, awful, abusive police officer husband, Kevin. He loathes Kevin with all his being, and wants to be the only one in Samantha's life. She can do so much better than Kevin. Chandler should be the only one for her. He would be a much better father and husband, one that Dylan and Samantha deserve.

He wants to make this a reality. By any means necessary.

It's terrifying and fascinating to see how Chandler devolves throughout the book. I got serious Norman Bates vibes, minus the motel. It's a horrifying thought that any one of us could have a neighbor like Chandler, we just wouldn't know it until it was too late.

The narrator did an incredible job! You could really tell the moments where Chandler got more and more unhinged.

A fast-paced and compelling read …

I really enjoyed this story. The plot was well thought out, the story fast-paced and easy to follow. There was a short list of well developed characters, some likable and some not so much. Oddly, I found myself rooting for the “bad guy” and even felt a little sorry for him. I really liked the ending which was somewhat of a surprise and could easily lead to a sequel.
I am definitely looking forward to reading more by this author. This is an extreme horror and contains some graphic violence, so be aware if this isn’t your type of book.
I listened to the audible version while I read along on my Kindle. I thought the narration was very good and added to the overall story. I recommend this book to all fans of horror.
