This was a fun read.

Clía is determined to prove herself more than just a pretty face. She knows she has been spoiled and pampered, but she can (and will) do anything to protect her kingdom.

Domhnall has broken her heart. But that won’t stop Clía from proving her worth.

His Captain of the Guard sees Clía’s determination and agrees to help train her…and maybe a little pit more. 😉

3.5 Rounded Down

I love Neave and wish that the FMC was sapphic and ended up with her instead! But the main romance is sweet and I like them together all right. The ending took me a little by surprise, good surprise. A sweet, cute read with a surprisingly interesting plot that seems to set up for the possibility of future books. While the plot is rather basic, it's still interesting enough to listen to while I'm working.

I've seen it said several times that this story was "basically Legally Blonde" but it's only Legally Blonde in the vain of "girl is dumped, girl wants to win him back but finds self worth". Which, many stories have that premise. I sort of got "Quest for Camelot" vibes, though. I've also seen it being compared to Tangled, but I only see that in the way that male love interest has a Flynn Ryder appearance to him.
The narration is solid and I appreciate the map of the kingdom included in the PDF.

Let me tell you if this book is right for you!

If your looking for a book with a book with a lot of spice, this would be the wrong book, for you, unless your looking for tension. There are characters I did personally want to feed to Ozwald myself, it has a strong female lead that grows with the story, has a lot of combat in it as well not overly graphic, either.

Love the characters

Really loved the story and the characters. I grew attached to all of them! Def recommend.
