Well done.

Excellent. Truly fascinating. I just wish it was longer. I try to use my credits for longer books so I can have more hours of listening. So in retrospect I probably would not choose this a second time just for that reason. But I really enjoyed it anyway.

Identity is not much of a mystery

The cases are rather transparent, but the diseases are not. That said, I liked it nonetheless.

I am not enamored with the narrator. He has an odd cadence to his speech that comes across as slightly condescending.

From Start To Finish

Excellent! I had fun with each case; even when I knew the answers early on. This is a very good read!

very good.

I don't know a single thing about medicine. I do know a lot about history so it was fun figuring out who each patient was before they were declared.

Great Stories

I listened to both volumes and thoroughly enjoyed them. These are stories about people, about history and about medicine. Interesting and entertaining.

The Last Surprise

I loved Part 1, and Part 2 was equally wonderful. Each case is fascinating in its own way but the last one is the only one that made me tear up. "Rob" just had a profound impact on millions of people myself included so while I was able to emotionally detach, and, quite successfully, guess some of the diagnoses, the last case made me feel like I was sitting at a hospital waiting room worrying about a friend.

Play a medical detective game!

This audiobook not only presents fascinating cases from the history of medicine but also lets you play a fun game of guessing who was the patient and what's the correct diagnosis. I found it very engaging and entertaining. Obviously, you have to have some basic knowledge of medicine to appreciate the full extent of its content, although the language is quite simple and the author explains more complex ideas in lay words. Brilliant
food for thought, even for experienced clinicians.
Very well narrated.
Long story short - 10/10

ZZZZZ......

Those are 5 hours I'll never get back!
Just as well I fell asleep after 2 of them.
There's nothing new, informative or even humorous in the bone dry, boring and already well researched subject matter of this book.
If you want to get an honest, exciting and informative inside of the life of a medic, but any book by Adam Kay, this book reads like a performance review!

Humane, fluent, fascinating

I highly rate both volumes of this audiobook. The lectures are both precise and relaxed, with an approach to medicine that includes due emphasis on the human and environmental factors at work in the lives of the famous patients described, as well as clear and cogent descriptions of the physiological and disease processes that are accessible to the lay person without being patronising. Dr Ray Benaroch seems like a really nice bloke and it was my great pleasure to spend nine or ten hours in his company.

A good medical run through some famous cases

Pretty good. Quite interesting but fairly well known cases. The narrator was a bit fast.

Another goodie

The first book was born, this one was made. Nevertheless, still a lot of medical secrets which can open new doors for us. A clever Dr no doubt, and great teacher, Roy provides great books.
