Publisher's summary

Males look to be served. Men look to be of service. Emmy Award-nominated actor best known for his role on Queen Sugar and transformational speaker Dondré Whitfield challenges us to be real men in this provocative look at the power found in serving others.

Too many males abuse the power they have.

Often those males grow up without healthy role models and so, while they look like men, they act like boys. Only now there are adult consequences to their actions.

And many of us are caught in the shifting cultural ideas about manhood, unsure of how to make sound decisions or truly be a man. Every day we find evidence that the role of men at home, at work, and out in the world is deeply misinterpreted.

In Male vs. Man, Dondré Whitfield equips us to become men rather than simply "grown males." Men are healthy and productive servant-leaders who bring positive change to their communities. Males are self-serving and stuck in negative cycles that we hear and read about daily. They create chaos instead of cultivating calm.

Male vs. Man is an uplifting playbook for men who want to level up. It will help men and women alike understand what real manhood is, based on biblical wisdom as well as hard-earned lessons from someone who has been there. With practical guidance and a strong spiritual foundation, Dondré shows how to cultivate the life-changing spiritual, emotional, and psychological attributes of servant leadership at home, at work, and in our communities.

Understanding

Thank you for taking the time to write this book. It help to bring clarity for me in so many areas of my life that I didn't understand with my father and husband. I truly appreciate your insight and hope that you will write more. May God continue to bless you and your family, thanks for sharing your blessing. If you figure out how to create mentoring sessions or group sessions out of state please let me know. I live in Alabama with my husband and two sons that could benefit from a more personal interaction. Kindest Brandi Ellis

Women need to hear this too

I needed to hear this perspective. We need to reclaim our black men and stop the horrific cycle of males not taking their rightful place in families.

great all around

this was a great book and although I am not direct targeted audience it was beneficial as a mother of sons. I also learned a little bit more about myself and how the cultural and societal norms have played a part and have changed in our ideas of what to adulthood madness womanhood really is and also as the growth over time has changed in what we as individuals have accepted as a partner and half required from them and from ourselves.

I can't wait to read the one that is targeted for women..

More than just one Jewel, many Gems💎!

This book is excellent and refreshing. Dondre' gives you a bag of jewels on a little bit of everything. Relationship with his kids and wife, the deliberate way he engages with his kids making sure they understand the reason why in anything they do verses saying "Because I said so". The relationship between him and his wife, what it really is verses old phrases that are one-sided. His friends and his personal journey to being a Man and not just a Male. 👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾

Very Insightful

I enjoyed the everyday language of Dondre’s book. He meets people in a place of humility and honesty. I learned a great bit about myself and
desire to share more of myself with others.
