Great Start

This is a promising start to a new series. I look forward to seeing where it goes from here.

Decent start to a new series

Audiobook was completed well by the narrator. Story reminiscent of HP meets haremlit. The ending gives way to something threatening in the future.

Stellar Perfromance

Scott and Sage write a good story however, Jessica Threet with her numerous voices, timing and inflections make this a five star book. I do recommend this book.

Terrific Story

A very well story with a good main character and fun supporting characters. I read the book and listen to it here and the audio experience was fantastic.

Coward mc some spice

Mc is a coward with no power spicy scenes exist but are not great voice actor was great but the lack of mc having a single vertebrae is off putting to me though

Good When it's Original

To keep it short, I enjoyed the book, but there were tough patches for me to get through.

In retrospect what I enjoyed the most was the characters and when the story became its own. What bogged down the experience for me is how heavily this story draws from Star Wars and Harry Potter. I know it is easy to draw comparisons with every magic school book and Harry Potter, but this goes a bit beyond just that. Young prodigy finds magical world hidden just under his nose, mean black-haired teacher, dean a little too chummy with prodigy, and magical tournaments, it starts to get a bit too on-the-nose with how much the author pulls from his inspirations.
Also mitosomes, mitosomes, mitosomes. It was a bit annoying and eye-rolling when the Star Wars prequels tried to get people to accept medichlorians as the basis for all force powers, so just like the author's inspiration, it is equally as assuming and eye-rolling here. It's basically all people talk about in the school and just gets boring when everyone keeps measuring their dicks with their count.

Great story

The book was great fun characters and fun premise..my only gripe was that there was a bit too much slice of life...I'll still definitely be getting the next book I just hope there is more academy magic and action

Interesting world and good characters

I really like the book and the performance was spectacular. Please look up the definition of the word ornery though because I don't think it means what you think it means and it threw me off every time I heard it. I enjoyed the book beyond that small complaint.

good, but the MC was bland

The overall story was good. The writing was decent, and many of the characters were good. However, in a slice of life story like this the plot is, as usual, not very engaging. That means the hook of the story is left to the interactions of the characters and the mc. In this case, none of the characters were particularly memorable or note worthy, and the mc was particularly lacking. He is S tier, but that's about it. He isn't smart, clever, funny, charming, driven, or talented beyond his S tier. The connections with the other characters feel relatively weak and circumstantial and their interactions were straightforward and unexciting.

Awesome

Very good listen there were some slow moments but overall I was engaged and locked into the story the entire time. Ready for the next one.
