Kismet

This was a super short but super sweet listen. It drew me in with the story of the town and I felt the love with the characters no matter how short it was. The side characters mentioned peeked my interest as well. This was a clean listen as well meaning no steamy scenes. I am going back to listen more about the other characters. The narrator did a great job.

Cute short story

This story was cute and short. It has the basic elements of what a story should have, I just felt like it was lacking something and I can’t seem to put my finger on what that is.

Really enjoyed this short story

Cute short and sweet, nice plot, sweet characters, a lot is put into a short time

The narrator was very good, she gave great emotions you could feel. There are no repeating of words, no volume changes, no background noise, a very clear audio filled with passion. Character voices were very nice, I always knew who was talking and what they were feeling. Her male voices were as nice as her female. I really enjoyed this short audio.

LOVE WINS, NO MATTER WHAT

LUCK AT FIRST SIGHT is the fourth book in the Kismet Bay series. Though each short story will stand on its own, I think it would better if you read them all and in the order of release.

There is mention of a town legend, but it wasn’t explained – more assumed that that the reader knew the legend from previous books. Other than that, this short story can stand on its own.

Apparently, the legend of the town of Kismet Bay is that the town’s magic will always lead you to your true love. Sage was hard-headed enough to leave town, to try to thwart the magic. Fate and magic have other plans and they always win. Happily…. Ever after.

This is the kind of story that, though short it makes me smile. Love wins, no matter what. Where there is a will – and true love – the people in the relationship will find solutions. Add in some meddling friends and family and it really is the stuff to make me smile (all in the time it takes to put together dinner).

Narration: Christian Drerup did a beautiful job of providing the voices for the characters and making me believe in the magic and the romance.

Still in love

Tristan and Sage were in love and Sage left town. She is back to plan her twin sister's wedding. Her sister set them up to meet in private because she knew they still loved each other. Pretty good short story.

Starts in the Middle with Little Preamble

I have now listened to four of the super short novellas that start this series. Every single one of them is shorter than 45 minutes to listen to, so there is little room for much characterization or plot development. Of the four, I've only truly liked one, the one set on Valentine's Day, because the author kept it appropriately constrained in both time and place. Unfortunately, this book is like the other two I've listened to: it feels like we're airlifted and dropped into the middle of the romance with little (and certainly not enough) preamble to help us understand the characters and what’s going on with them so that we care enough to invest in what happens to them and ultimately in their romance. It just starts and plunges full steam ahead until the end. I really do like to be able to connect with characters, and that just didn't happen in this story. I think novellas, especially ones as short as this one, are hard to write well. I do tend to like this author's longer works better.
