Publisher's summary

Butch O'Neal is a fighter by nature. A hard-living ex-homicide cop, he's the only human ever to be allowed in the inner circle of the Black Dagger Brotherhood. And he wants to go even deeper into the vampire world - to engage in the turf war with the lessers. His heart belongs to a female vampire, Marissa, an aristocratic beauty who's way out of his league. And if he can't have her, then at least he can fight side by side with the Brothers.

But fate curses him with the very thing he wants. When Butch sacrifices himself to save a civilian vampire from the slayers, he falls prey to the darkest force in the war. Left for dead, he's found by a miracle, and the Brotherhood calls on Marissa to bring him back, though even her love may not be enough to save him.

With each book, this series gets so much better!

I wasn't immediately hooked on this series. I liked it a lot, but I found it hard to get into the books.
I loved the last one so much that I realized there was a world developing and with each book the richness and intensity increased.
Nonetheless, I was not wild about butch, thinking him only a minor character, and disliking his OCD taste in fine clothes.
Boy was I in for a trip when I read this. Butch ROCKS, Miranda is so amazing, and I love her transition. Vicious has definitely shown his strange side, perhaps worst than Z's used to be.
As more of this world develops, I am smitten and addicted.

I admit I love Revenge too. Can't wait for his story.
Oh and this does not lack in sexy scenes. The tender scene in hospital is hot! That's all I'll say. :)

Butch catches a break

What did you love best about Lover Revealed?

Even though Butch is human, he tries so hard to be part of the Brotherhood.

Have you listened to any of Jim Frangione’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

Yes and he is great with voices and personalities.

Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?

When Butch learns he might have a chance to be turned into a vampire, if he goes through regression of past lives.

Any additional comments?

I really enjoyed Butch's story and i don't think it's over yet. The story may continue in another book. J R Ward always touches on different things going on with other character in each book and I really enjoy that.

Book Four Review

The narrator is as always spot on. This book was just as good as the previous ones, I love this series so much so far! The depth to the characters and everyone around them is so good and the hop from person to person is perfectly balanced with keeping you enthralled. Not like some books or movies where it is just too much and you get lost or confused.

I keep reading them...

I like the overall story probably because I like vampire stories quit a bit. Sometimes the vernacular sounds odd- “what’s doing?” with a clear pronunciation is weird. It should be more causal like “whaz do ‘en?”. There are a handful of words that turn up like that and stick out to me. Otherwise narration is good nice voice. I like seeing all the brothers again and I do want to know what happens to each of them and for that reason I will continue to listen to these. I did not like the main female character in this book Marissa she seemed very wishy-washy and weak -they kept breaking up and going back and breaking up and going back. I have liked the Butch character from the very beginning and feel that he deserves someone better simply because he had gone through so much he was tough and he knew who he was and what he wanted and I felt that he should be with a woman came from the same sort of power position and Marissa up to the very end was listening to what her friends had told her about their mates going to fight and how they just had to suck it up. Merissa should have figured that out and been strong enough to do it in order to be with Butch. I just wasn’t impressed with her ....and what was that underlying gay theme with Butch and V? I kept thinking they were going to throw a threesome into this! ha ha but Marissa wouldn’t go for it so they would probably have to have gotten that tough chick from the bar ha ha!

Yay, Butch!

Would you listen to Lover Revealed again? Why?

Yes. The interactions between characters feel "normal" and real. Allowing for the unique vernacular "I feel you, brother." The humorous back and forth between the brothers feels like I'm listening to the conversation between long time friends. The way they relate to one another. I also love the warmth and tenderness of the romantic encounters. Yeah, they're spicy, but they also feel "real."

Who was your favorite character and why?

No question, Butch. Love his toughness and humor. His willingness to do anything for his best pal, V. And what he goes through to be with Marissa.

What about Jim Frangione’s performance did you like?

Each character is distinct. His female voices feel a bit tougher to distinguish, but they work.

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

Yes.

Any additional comments?

I really like J. R. Wards written conversations. There is more to them than just exchanging facts and information, or pleasantries. There are scenes and interactions that aren't critical to the tale, yet fill out the universe of Wrath's community and make for a richer story.

Book four - perceived weaknesses and the human

With the focal point being on Butch and his unique part in the brotherhood, this one seemed to be more about breaking rules and breaking out of the norm. I loved how Marissa's meekness and timidity was transformed into a much needed strength for her new role within the brotherhood.
This was not my favorite, but definitely a must to build onto the series.

Spoilers **** Marissa Rumspringa [Building block b

Butch and Marissa
Our Podcast www.romanceataglance.com/

Socialite Marissa has never controlled her own agency. She reminds me of an Amish kid just learning about the world for real. First she was the rejected wife of the king, her brother kicks her out of her home and then she keeps getting rejected by butch. Her struggle to find her voice and confidence is agonizing for me, but so worth the journey. She has a turning point when she burns up all her old clothes and old life, puts her foot down with her boundaries regarding butch and seals the deal into her power when she takes over the vote later and tells them to have SEVERAL SEATS when the council is trying to sequester female vampires. Not TODAY! Watching Marissa grow up in this book was the redemption I need for her after book 1. She can’t go out like this.

I give Marissa 4 Peaches

Butch is not my favorite character, but I did enjoy learning about his background. They explained more about his family and how he was abused and later on about how he was the product of his mother's affair. I was annoyed at how much he would go back and with wanting to be with Marrissa and then rejecting her. Gurl already has rejection issues. The feeding scenes were annoying AF to. There is literally a whole group of women (the Chosen) whose job it is to feed the Brotherhood. Why so much angst.

I give butch 3 eggplants

This book for me is a building block book. Not my favorite but the world building is so necessary for us to enjoy future books. This is where we get more info on Qhuinn and Blaylock, John Matthew, Xhex, and Rehvenge. Some of my favorite characters.

The series is worth the read.
