Publisher's Summary

Sometimes I wish it was just him and me.

Sometimes I wish there never was an Indie or a Donovan; that McKay and I just ran away together when we were young. Sailed around the world. Climbed mountains. Learned to parachute. Did whatever we wanted and never thought about this place, or the Company and our place in it, ever again.

Sometimes I wish we were broke, and uncomfortable, and stressed out about things like rent, and food, and bad tires. I wish we had done it differently. I wish I had listened to Gerald. I wish I wasn’t 37 years old, filled up to my neck and choking on regrets.

Lovely Darkness is about love, and regrets, and accepting the truth - even if it breaks you. It is the last book in the dark romantic thriller series Creeping Beautiful and must be listened to in order.

mind blown!!!!!

Feels like the end to an amazing era. I thought I knew what was kind of going to happen in this book, but alas Julie just has a way of twisting her stories so you just can't stop reading until you know. I was definitely not disappointed, it was filled with such longing to reach the point of it's going to be ok now that I couldn't stop reading. No spoilers so just listen, listen them all. Thank you for another rollercoaster ride madam.

Characters & Narrators were phenomenal..amazing.

Ending sucks. There was never going to be a good way to conclude this book. Too much stuff to reconcile. I loved listening to these books even though I knew the ending could not possibly match the series.

An end to the Company family or not?

This is the 4th and final book and maybe the final of the never ending tales of the company family that we have known through all the books by JA Huss. I have been hooked from the very beginning and this is a sweet, satisfied closure to all the characters I grew to like - Sasha, Indie, Adam, McKay, Nic, Wendy. Donavan, Merc…For those who have not read the previous books and spin offs…this will be very confusing - there is so much history to each of the characters and how they intertwine with each other….Overall, the narration as expected was done superbly . Make sure you listen to JA Huss EOBS - so much more to come and Julie tells more of these tales…

My head is spinning!

HOLY COW! I am sitting here just digesting everything I just read. I cannot believe how it ended! I mean wtf!? I am happy with the outcome, but am finding myself also a little disappointed but I can't say why. It's not that anyone really got shafted in their personal ending, honestly, I think it was the best possible outcome for all of them. I think maybe, it was hard to seethe parting of ways of certain individuals. There was a LOT going on in this final book, so many things to wrap up. It was nonstop information overload, and it was fantastic! I found myself wondering if I had everyone wrong, were they the people I thought they were? Truly sad its over, but it was worth the wait. Narration was on point by the fantastic cast of all stars.

wow, wonderful series, loved narration, I like duel narration better, but was still great.
story was one of the best series I've read. love, love, love this author. this is my very first review, hope it helps u to decide to read this series, I was hesitant about reading theses books, some of the reviews had me thinking it was to dark for me, but no way. I was always hoping Nike and Sasha would end up together, but alas you don't always get what u want.

READ JA HUSS NOW!!!

Yes I am a bit demanding with my title. Am I sorry? Nope. Not even a little bit. JA Huss is my absolute, most favorite author. Hands down!! And she just did it again with Lovely Darkness. Wow 😲 There are so many peripheral stories to "The Company" that, as you read them, you wonder how in the hell is gonna end? Lovely Darkness wraps it up in best way. The JA Huss way. I was reading (well listening) to another series while waiting for Lovely Darkness to come out (also waiting for my audible credit). And it was good. It entertained me. But as soon as I was finished with it, I dove right into Lovely Darkness and finished it within 24 hours. The series I was listening to was just a place holder, and pales in comparison to Huss's books. In just a few minutes of listening to LD I relaxed and was content. Like the first bite of dangerously delicious, dark chocolate cake with dark chocolate mousse that you finally get to eat after weeks of craving something chocolate. (Ode to The Sexpert 😘 🧁🧁) But seriously true. I am so glad she decided to write instead of become a scientist. I could go on forever. Anyone reading this should definitely checkout JA Huss material. You will not be disappointed. 💗

Awe-inspiring

Another winner for J.A. Huss. Her mind is so complex and so are her stories. This was a phenomenal conclusion to such an amazing world she's created. I highly recommend all her books, but start with The Company and read or listen them in order. You won't regret it.

JA Huss is genius

What did I just hear!!! This was not, at all, what I expected!!! When this book started and it got where everyone was in Louisiana…. I expected…. Well, I’m not sure WHAT I expected, but NOT what happened!

I am so engrossed every time I read a JA Huss book, that I don’t take my normal notes while I’m reading or listening. I love her books so much, because I know I’m going to dive in and not come up until I’ve heard it all! This was no different. I adore these characters, even though they are so messed up!

I am so caught up in the absolute horror show that is The Company that I hurry to experience each book, and then I’m sad that I finished!!! Some of these people are so evil! But some…. They are just caught up in something they had no choice in…. That as messed up as they are…. You have to feel bad for them.

No spoilers… so I’m not saying much about the story…. But it will blow you away.. promise.. it’s another JA Huss masterpiece.

Amazing end to the Company Journey

Wow….. So “The Company” series has come to an end (or has it)
Lets talk about this final book first. It was not only a great ending to this series but I found it a great ending to “The Company” series. Lots of questions were answered and lots of loose ends tired up, but a few were left dangling, just incase Julie decides to write some more. What I liked is Julie has left it open to the possibilities of more to come if she wants to, but she didnt cut it off and leave us wondering “what happened”
This last book didnt have huge twists like other books, dont get me wrong there were a couple and yes she still F$%ked with our minds a little! (I love that!)

I loved that this series had some old players back in the game, even if they didnt have a star role Julie still managed to mention them in passing (she is great like that and I find she does that with all her books)

For me I am a new fan to Julie's world but others have been here for ages, I would like to think they too would have enjoyed how Julie summed up this whole journey, hell it has been a long one for them. I was lucky enough to have been able to listen back to back, from start to finish with no gaps between books (which I suggest you do if you want to get deep into this world)

I dont have many authors or books, that I add to a re-listen to list, as I love discovering new worlds, new stories and new authors, but I have already re-listened to a couple of Julie's, so YES for sure I will be re-listening to these again.

Julie has this talent where she not only tells a good story, but she tells them all a little different to the others. As a reader (I listen) this keeps us interested and we dont get bored, and hell we crave more!

Julie from me to you, THANK YOU.
