Publisher's summary
True love is put to the test in this romantic comedy brought to hilarious life by Santino Fontana (Frozen, The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel), Stephanie Einstein, and a full cast!
This Psych 312 assignment just might send me off the deep end. Determining whether love at first sight really exists with Robbie Moravian as my project partner, of all people?
He’s the sappiest man alive, so upbeat I could scream, and clearly rooting for happy endings at every turn. How does he not learn from experience considering our own meet-cute last semester almost got us expelled?
But we both need to pass this course to graduate. So we’re interviewing five random couples about their meet-cutes and relationships and spending all this time together. Which is certainly...educational.
Because it turns out Robbie isn’t just the charming golden boy I thought I knew. There’s some actual depth beneath all those lame dad jokes and the ‘70s-inspired thrift wardrobe (even if he does look ridiculously great in a flared collar). Next thing I know he’s walking me back to my office on the regular and finishing all my sentences and protecting me from freak storms, and...
Wait. Could Robbie be right? Can happy endings really come from unhappy beginnings? Is he about to change my entire world view?
Group projects are the worst.

Paint your toes. Pick up the wrong coffee and bagel order. Drive from Brooklyn to Jersey in traffic so slow you want to tear your hair out. It’s amazing all the useless things I can accomplish while on hold for three hours with customer service. Three hours when I should be getting the Date-in-a-Box website ready to launch at the big business expo in a few days. Except my shiny new website is glitching, and my inner rage-monster is ready to scorch some earth...when he finally picks up. Not the robot voice I expected but a real live human named Kal.

As a published novelist, Lila Rose has been writing about fictional weddings all her life. When Daniel arrives in the resort with his new squeeze, Lila strikes up a ‘showmance’ with hot new movie star Freddie Bianchi. The many lives of theoretical physicist Elsie Hannaway have finally caught up with her. By day, she’s an adjunct professor, toiling away at grading labs and teaching thermodynamics in the hopes of landing tenure. By other day, Elsie makes up for her non-existent paycheck by offering her services as a fake girlfriend, tapping into her expertly honed people-pleasing skills to embody whichever version of herself the client needs. Who, wait for it, wants to find Mrs. Right and get hitched. He’s a once-in-a-blue-moon kind of man, and it’s a darn shame I’m not on the market. If I were, his accent alone would melt me. CUE THE DRAMATIC VICTORIAN SWOONY FAAAAALLL!!!
Why (OH WHY?!?!) does Cara Bastone have to be such an AMAZING writer?! I’m officially RUINED! I mean I’ve heard all her other (Love Lines) books and was falling (like listening to them over and over for the last year and can mentally recite lines in my brain kind of falling) for her characters but this one TAKES THE CAKE! My heart is both in SHAMBLES and on cloud nine. I’m an emotional puddle and mess. I want more! Yet am not sure I can take more warm fuzzy-wuzzies. Why can’t there be more relationships like these out there?! Why is it that Bastone is the only author who isn’t afraid to shine a light on toxic masculinity and toxic relationships as a WHOLE?! And toxic people? And our own self-depreciation? I LOVE HER REFLECTIVE STYLE! Omg. And sigh. And many many more emotions.
Thank you, Ms. Bastone! Thank you, Audible! Thank you, oh lovely cast♥️♥️♥️! Thank you, again and always, Ms. Bastone - you give me hope for love in general and lovely day dreams that uplift me for my man in the future. Thank you for making your books both full of romance and hints of spice - but also so amazingly sweet and wholesome that I think I could die happy just after listening to them / re-listening. Thank you! BUT ALSO: I NEED MORE! Respectfully and hopefully SOON. Thank you.

Another winner!!!
I have yet to find another author who can capture modern romance as delightfully as Cara Bastone. She creates charming well rounded characters that feel tangible so their stories do as well. There’s something about her storytelling that feels really grounded while also creating the fluttery butterflies and head in clouds swooning you want from a romance.
We all have those movies or shows that we’ve watched a million times and will continue to do so because they’re a form of comfort to us. Well when it come to books Cara Bastone’s collection is that for me. I have listens to Call me Maybe, Sweet Talk, and Seat Mate more times than I can count. Listening to them feels like being wrapped in a warm blanket and Love at First Psych has just been added to the list.
The performance as always was killer. The leading characters banter had me grinning the entire time. And at the end I just wanted more. Not because I was left unsatisfied but because I simply wanted to spend more time with the characters.
I truly hope Cara Bastone continues to write these kinds of stories. I will never tire of listening to them- again, and again, and again.

Soooo Frickin good!!!!!
Oh, wow, is this a great little story! It is incredibly deep but also fun, funny, and adorably romantic. I gotta say the 2 MC narrators really sell this book. Yes, the writing is super (I love this author's previous work too) but the acting and chemistry of the main narrators is what makes the 4+ hours so enjoyable. It's definitely a favorite and worthy of a re-read.

Loved the Narration
This was a cute novella, but probably my least favorite of her audible novellas. There just wasn’t a ton of chemistry between the two leads and the big surprise/reveal fell flat. I enjoyed Robbie’s golden retriever energy, but I just didn’t feel a true connection between him and Marigold. The highlight of the novella was the narration. The full cast and sound effects were a treat, but the star of the book was Santino Fontana. Yes, I do think of Prince Hans when I hear him, but that just adds to the fun LOL

Honestly every time Cara Bastone and Audible team up for an original short it’s simply fantastic and I end up getting through it in 24 hours or less (which is difficult because I have a job and a toddler!). These productions are like a hug in audiobook form. The stories are sweet and fun, the performances are pitch perfect - wholeheartedly recommend.

I believe in Love at first Psych
I just LOVE THIS!!!! Not only I love it at first listen but I just know that this is going to be one of my comfort audiobooks that I’ll be in a long term relationship with. The story, the conversations, the background noises, the voice actors??? Just perfect!

I love these
Love Cara’s stories. Absolutely heartwarming and always with a little twist. They are set up fabulously. The additional background noise helps to being the story to life.

An entertaining romantic listen
It's a lovely story, the narration is great, expertly done by real actors. The story is not complicated, easy to follow with even a little twist at the end.

Didn't think I would enjoy as much as I did
I didn't think I would enjoy this as much as I did. As with all in the genre, it's predictable; however that doesn't take away from the story. It is fun, cute and well read. A refreshing way to hear a story. I did find the background noises a bit distracting, too loud and in some parts it took away from the voice actors but over all it was good. I'd enjoy more quick listens like this.

Very weak story
The performance is very good and catchy but the story itself is just make you feel such a waste of time.

Really cute
Uplifting and light- hearted. It has great characters and a quirky story. It’s also short, so the perfect listen for in between two long books with heavier content.

Corny but cute
An easy listen with tweens home on school holidays. It’s cute, the format is engaging and entertaining- I’m fairly new to audible and this is the first book I’ve listened to that has distinctive differences between all voices (as opposed to a male and a female voicing all characters) so I found that much easier to follow and visualize as a neuro spicy person who normally struggles with auditory input- also the style of the recordings telling the story rather internal switching monologues was fun. The story was cute, straightforward, well written and performed and a nice listen while chilling out and playing switch for a break this morning. I’m still listening to other full length, more complex books but it was a good listen for in-between, mental rests when I didn’t feel like finding a new podcast I like.

I 100% fell in love with Robbie!
I thought it was a little slow to start, and I wasn’t engaged in the first 10 minutes also, but then it just got under my skin and I absolutely loved it. The performances are fantastic, the exploration of what is love is wonderful, and Robbie is just adorable!!

Cheesy but a great story
I haven’t heard any other story narrated like this. It definitely added a whole other element to the book which I loved.
Corny story but I loved it
