Publisher's Summary

When Matthew Riker returns to Iowa to attend the funeral of his high school wrestling coach, he finds a lot has changed since he last set foot in his hometown.

His best friend may be involved in moving drugs, and his cousin is struggling to help at-risk teens. Worst of all, there may be more to his coach's death than the random carjacking the newspapers are reporting.

As Riker gets closer to the truth, he decides that the best way to honor Coach's memory is to find out who killed him and bring them to justice. Before long, Riker discovers there is a lot more going on in this small town than he first assumed. To save the people he cares about most, he will have to lay it all on the line.

Evil has arrived in Kingsport, Iowa, and it's calling in reinforcements. Kingsport's only chance for redemption is Matthew Riker.

Excellent narration by Jay Snyder plus a good book...

Long Way Home is the third book in the Matthew Riker series. This is a standalone novel however I would suggest listening to the previous two books as well just for background and continuity.
in this book Riker returns to his hometown when he learns that his old wrestling coach and mentor has been murdered. It’s been 20 years since he’s been back and the changes In the town are astonishing. To begin with, the town seems to be overrun with people selling drugs. Mainly heroin. Law enforcement doesn’t seem to be turning a blind eye. The more Riker digs the the more in danger he becomes and what little family he has left is in danger also. Riker can’t turn his back and leave , he has to clean up his hometown and the help he picks up along the way is surprising.
I am so happy to see Jay Snyder doing more. He is a wonderful narrator who’s voice is perfect for action and thriller books.
This book has my HIGHEST RECOMMENDATION.

My favorite of the three series novels!

I've now listened to The import, Ghost Agent, and LONG WAY HOME. All three series Matthew Riker novels ere excellent with Long Way Home being the best and Ghost Agent being the weakest. The books can be read in any order but I suggest that The Import be read first. Jay Snyder does a great job of narrating.

I found my new crush!

Mathew Riker is an excellent substitute for Courland Gentry! And voiced by the same guy! It's all the action and witty dialogue of the Gray Man with more family ties. As soon as I discovered the 1st book, I immediately downloaded the rest of the books in the series. Now I have something else to enjoy while I'm waiting for the next Gray Man or Orphan X novel.

My new Jack Reacher

I know. So cliche to name yet another action hero a Jack Reacher replacement. Unfortunately, Reacher jumped the shark a few books ago so it is hard to be a loyal fan any longer.

What i really like about Riker is that he is an untethered bad@ss that inserts himself into various problems and takes care of business. He isn’t restricted to a specific role recurring responsibility like a detective or agent of a secret government experiment would have. He is also very resourceful which adds to the intrigue. These are all of the reasons that i used to love reading Reacher novels. Riker credibly picks up where jack left off. Enjoy.

Call in State Troopers?

I just wonder why they didn't call in the state troopers to help them out with the cartel.

Exciting book and wonderful narration..

Matthew Riker is right up there with Jack Winchester and Court Gentry and Jonathan Quinn. Another awesome killer with a heart of gold. >>>>>>>>>>

This time he went back to his home town for the funeral of his wrestling coach, from years ago. He took on 12 bad guys from the cartel then he and 5 others took on the 50 men the leader of the cartel sent to kill Riker. It was exciting from beginning to end. >>>>>>>>>>

No romance and the F-bomb was used 6 times. >>>>>>>>>>

As for the narration: There are about 5 male narrators that I absolutely love, and Jay Snyder is one of them. He's awesome.

Great series!

I have heard people compare Matthew Riker to the Gray Man. I personally like Matthew Riker better. He's a loveable character with a good heart. The action in these books moves at a fast pace but not too fast. These are fun reads!
