Publisher's summary

Sex is tragically misunderstood in our society. We get contradictory advice (frequently unsolicited) from family, teachers, religious institutions, and even well-meaning therapists who are dealing with their own shame around sex. Despite all of the mixed messages we get, sex is wonderfully good and offers the promise of improving all aspects of human life.

Fortunately, for us as individuals and couples, a new day is dawning. The purpose of this audiobook is to affirm the essential goodness of sex and to provide you, the listener, a map and set of tools for living your erotic potential to its fullest.

Living Your Erotic Potential is for both men and woman, and for those who love and admire them. While it is for all genders and sexual orientations, Casey has focused on five sub-groups who stand to benefit and grow the most through erotic embodiment:

  • The individual man, woman, and couples who want to bring more passion, joy, and wildness into their intimate connection(s).
  • The couple who wants to expand, renew and/or intensify their erotic relationship.
  • The person who is single by choice and wants to attract new lovers or partners.
  • The person who has recently become single, not by choice, and is ready to get back in the dating game with new knowledge and skills.
  • The individual or couple who would like to safely explore the erotic edges through "alternative" lifestyles such as ethical non-monogamy, swinging, kink, and BDSM.

Casey writes from his heartfelt personal experience, as a sex and relation coach, having decades of experience tantra, sexual shamanism, and other erotic arts.

Should be Required Reading

Throughout this book, Mark Casey makes the case for full embodiment, and complete knowledge of the body, as a pathway to more erotic pleasure, and I couldn’t agree more. He lays out wonderful exercises to help get us out of our heads and into our bodies, and uses scientific and spiritual information, as well as personal stories and anecdotes to guide us. It’s not only educational; it’s a thoroughly entertaining read, and I recommend it for anyone wanting to have more pleasure in their lives.

10/10 Would Recommend.

This book deeply resonated with a lot of different material I have already been brought to in my journey of authenticating my life experience. It offered a lot of clarity for me personally, and if you are new to these types of concepts, I would highly encourage you to take a listen because of the approach the author took in writing it. He references many different aspects of the subject, put them together in a very comprehensive articulation, and with personality included. Even his iteration of the story of The Green Knight was chef's kiss. He also provides interactive guidance that would be very beneficial to use in your practice.
All in all, a great read.

Packed with ideas, resources and advice!

Great book!!!

I could not believe how much was packed into this short book. It touches on so many areas that could be explored along the journey of embracing eroticism. The physical, the spiritual, the kinky . . . it is all in here. The diverse range of gender identities and sexual orientations are acknowledged and respected while concepts of masculine and feminine polarities are also shared, and woven throughout.

The book does an excellent job of suggesting resources, such as book titles or specific practices, that could be used to further explore many of the topics shared here, if the listener wants to go further after finishing this volume.

The language is clear and concise. The content is presented in a healthy and positive voice, encouraging the celebration of sensuality and sexuality without shame and in ways that are adventurous, authentic, safe and fun.

I am considering buying the written copy too, because are several lists and exercises that would be handy to use in that format as well.

I enjoyed listening to this book on audio and highly recommend it to those who are new to exploring some of the concepts as well as those who are more experienced and looking to probe a little deeper.

Fantastic book!

This is a really timely and important book that addresses eroticism and our erotic nature in a society that often struggles with sex and sexuality.

Mark effectively uses his personal experience to convey these sensual concepts and ideas including some amazing photography alongside. He also invites the reader to reflect on their own experiences and find tangible strategies for overcoming challenges. The structure of the book is logical and flows well. It keep you interested and engaged as you discover your path through the labyrinth of erotic possibilities.

My sex life and relationships have all improved since reading this book. I would recommend it to anyone who wants to get more out of their personal relationships and physical intimacy. Reading this book will help you find happiness and fulfillment by connecting with and living your erotic potential.

Great for guys, actionable tips, spirituality too.

Pros: This book offers a solid overview of sexuality and eroticism in relationship with self and others. It offers a good overview of important themes like consent, navigating relationships both monogamous and non-monogamous, spiritual aspects of sexuality, overcoming sexual shame, and ways in which mental health and trauma (both personal & societal) and can impact the sexual experience. As a mental health services provider myself I particular liked references to Non-Violent Communication, the Karpman Drama Triangle, how to handle it when a partners trigger one another, and the 10 steps of relationships repair, among other items. The book provides links and references for those who want to dive deeper into several of the areas covered. There are some really good exercises for self-exploration offered in this book that I will recommend to others. I also want to make sure to give kudos to the narrator, who I thought did an excellent job.

Cons: Though the author makes frequent reference to the universal applicability of concepts in the book, regardless of a person's gender or sexual orientation, it is nevertheless comes across that the perspectives represented come primarily from the author's own experience as a cisgendered heterosexual man. Many tips, anecdotes, and lessons are aimed at members of that population. This isn't a huge drawback, nor does the author try to pretend that the perspectives do not come from his own experience. I mention it largely because Queer folk of various types may not find themselves represented as much in it, nor necessarily find the tips as directly applicable to their situation.

Overall: I think this book can be a great introduction for folks who want to begin asking important questions of themselves and their partner(s) as they start on a journey of erotic self-discovery and growth. The topic of sexual shame comes up often in the text, especially the ways in which society tries to put us in limiting boxes that do not necessarily fit who we are. Taking the time to work through the blocks to our greater fulfillment is always worth doing and pays dividends. Mark Casey's book can help offer a solid start on that journey and can offer it in a time-and-cost efficient package.
