Publisher's Summary

"Take my hand, little one."

Fran finds her standing by the swings. A little girl, Esther, no older than seven years old, by herself in the dead of night, her pretty but old-fashioned yellow dress covered in grass stains and her hair dishevelled. She says she's waiting for Father, and that strikes Fran as particularly odd.

After Esther is reunited with her family, Fran can't stop thinking about this pious child whose imaginary friend is God. Fran's instincts tell her something is very wrong. Why does Esther keep running away from home, and how did she get that bruise on her leg?

Fran's husband warns her not to get too close, but one morning, Esther and her family disappear. Where did they go? Why did they leave their furniture behind?

Fran knows in her gut that something terrible is going to happen to that child, and she can't stand by while it happens. No matter the cost.

After all, she found her. But can she save her?

Sarah Denzil does it again!!!

Really liked how it ended. Realistic to a traumatic story and outcome. I need to read more books by this author.

wtf did I just read?!

This is a very strange book and not well written. A woman gets on a plane to chase after neighbors that left without warning and leaves the country to find out why and ends up in a cult?! just weird. I've been impressed with this author in the past but not this time.

Absolutely phenomenal

Probably the best book I’ve read/listened to in years. A fantastic piece of quick paced writing that you won’t want to put down. The story had me hooked from the get go and although at times I thought I knew what was going to happen the twists and turns proved me wrong. The narrators voice was lovely to listen to and overall the performance was brilliant. 100% recommend.

Brilliants written ,

Compulsive listening ,hard to pu down. But also makes for difficult listening sometimes. I remember the Whacko? Killing. Hard to believe people can be so indoctrinated.

Beautifully read & written. I enjoyed the journey.

Beautifully read & written. I enjoyed the journey although plot twist a little too predictable (for me anyway).

Great story with lots of action

Really enjoyed this and liked the fact that the main characters actions were believable. Often in books you think - they’d ignore this or that - well Fran didn’t so I liked her! Didn’t see the twist either. Great narration too!

Wow!

At first I thought it was quite twee and gentle and not much to hold my interest but it soon picked up pace and I couldn't stop listening. Really enjoyed this book. The narration was excellent.

Not very interesting at all

The principal characters didn’t stir emotion in me one or the other apart from the one who’s left out at the end - avoiding spoilers.
Slow and a bit whiny with 1 extra star for the final twist which was entirely unexpected.
All in all I could have lived perfectly well without ever finding this book

Enjoyable light listening with a semi dark plot...

Beautifully clear narration. Characters brought to life by the skill of the narrator's acting. Very enjoyable, though the tale is a little on the dark side.

Great storyline with a few wee twists

I really enjoyed this book and my first one by Sarah A Denzil. I I will be looking out for more penned by her too. If you enjoy stories about children, cults, and crime then this is for you. An easy listen and enjoyable narration.
