Publisher's summary

Darrow returns as Pierce Brown’s New York Times bestselling Red Rising series continues in the thrilling sequel to Dark Age.

“The measure of a man is not the fear he sows in his enemies. It is the hope he gives his friends.”—Virginia au Augustus

The Reaper is a legend, more myth than man: the savior of worlds, the leader of the Rising, the breaker of chains.

But the Reaper is also Darrow, born of the red soil of Mars: a husband, a father, a friend.

The worlds once needed the Reaper. But now they need Darrow. Because after the dark age will come a new age: of light, of victory, of hope.

Just finished....woah

TGR sounds like he has a tissue in his nostrils. (only for the first couple of hours. Darrow's voice isn't changed, maybe TGR was sick for recording one day, lol)

Why no Lysander Voice Actor!?!? (I don't like Lysander but I love the character as a villain as well as the amazing job that last VA did.)

TGR is amazing in this as well, don't get me wrong....

Still.

With everything that happens, what an improvement Lysander's VA from Dark Age would have made this.

Honestly it would have made this near perfect. it would be all the more immersive.

Anyways

The story is great. The action is great.

Some loose ends tied up. Some undone. Some torn apart.

Hope, Fear, Love, Sacrifice, Betrayal, Pain, Redemption... and a Chosen Path.

Bonds broken, bonds formed.

The theater is the Rim Dominion. Almost nothing save for the beginning takes place in the Core. It's a wild ride through the outer reaches of civilization. Astroid Belts and Gas Giant Moons

It's everything you expect from the best of Pierce Brown.

If you've read Dark Age then of course this is a shoo in for your library.

I HATE LYSANDER.

I HATE LYSANDER.

I HATE LYSANDER.

three times a charm.

TGR slays!!!(book's good too)

Great book, 5 stars. Love the series. Want to stick up for TGR as I loved him doing the whole thing and was appauled by how many people complained about it as if TGR or PB would have had anything to do with it. That's 2023 for you though, slag off pixies

RE-REVIEW - I was wrong on my first review.

I need to submit a new review. I was very critical of the VO during the first few hours of the story. I even swore in my initial review that I wouldn't complete the book.

I was wrong. This book was incredible.

Yes, the VO is not without it's flaws. TGR is the best in the business in my opinion. The best. For whatever reason, whether it be by choice or something else, the first five or so hours of the VO are off. It's possible it was by choice. Maybe TGR felt Darrow needed to sound exhausted, sick, injured. But it was a hard listen at first. And at times it was hard to decipher between Darrow and Lysander. But about six hours in, TGR slid into all the characters perfectly. Proving why he is the best and affirming Pierce's decision to hire only him.

It's a brilliant book. As good as the first three. Truly.

Stick through the rocky beginning. It's worth it.

Do NOT bring back the other voice actors

Reynolds’s performance is outstanding. The previous books’ narrators were so atrocious it made these otherwise amazing books a slog to get through.

Give it a chance

Are there VAs… no, but it’s the same story teller. I’m still as gripped with this story today as I was the first time I read it. Per aspera ad astra my friends

Brown delivered once again, Reynolds phoned it in

I love this book series. After two books of the protagonist getting the literal s#$t stomped out of him, it's nice to have a semi happy ending again. I wait, breath bated, for the last installment.

Pierce Brown Delivers Again!

Light Bringer reminds fans why we started reading Red Rising in the first place!! Book 6 hits on all cylinders; starting with a Wonderful story and continues with the strong & well developed characters the fans have become used too. This book is up there with Golden Son and Morning Star in my opinion! On a side note, TGR appears to struggle in his delivery of the narration in part 1. But he figures it out for the rest of the book. Cannot wait for the next one!

Brilliant As Always

Loved the latest installment of The Red Rising series. I can’t wait for the next one. It was exciting and of course in true Ouerce style- heartbreaking.

Spoilers: My only gripe is I wish it could have ended on Mars. I would have liked to see a few people reunited. Although it ended on a hopeful tip, I would like to have seen a few people connect with one another like Darrow and Virginia and obviously Sevro and Victra. I have a foreboding about the next one, this disease Lysander has is frightening. I am worried despite Darrow saying he checked the ship, it was boobie trapped by Lysander. Sevro put on the helmet, or even Cassius body maybe? I wish there was a damn recording of what went down with Cassius and Lysander. He is the worst pos.

Epic Story!!

TGR did great but I missed the other character voices. Made the epically good story challenging to follow because each
Character historically has had their own voice. Still, an entirely enjoyable listen!
