My life was perfect until she came along. Norah. Younger, prettier and about to marry my own ex-husband, they are a walking cliché. I hate her. I hate them both. She’s taken everything from me - my husband, my life, my home - but I refuse to allow her to take Cassie, my beautiful daughter. That's a step too far. Now I’ve discovered that Norah plans to have a baby of her own and that causes me no end of problems. She could destroy everything and reveal my deepest, darkest secrets. Publisher's summary
Someone has a secret. A secret worth killing for....
When a series of suicides, linked to the Wellness Spirit Centre, turn out to be murder, it brings together DCI Whitney Walker and forensic psychologist Dr Georgina Cavendish for another investigation. But as they delve deeper, they come across a tangle of secrets and the very real risk that the killer will strike again.
As the clock ticks down, the only way forward is to infiltrate the centre. But the outcome is disastrous, in more ways than one.
For fans of Angela Marsons, Rachel Abbott and M A Comley, Lethal Secret is the fourth book in the Cavendish & Walker crime fiction series.
Includes a special bonus note from the author.
Critic reviews
"Narrator Clare Corbett flawlessly creates the accents and setting of Lenchester, England, while introducing Detective Chief Inspector Whitney Walker and her polar opposite, psychologist Georgina Cavendish.... Corbett's best creation is pathologist Clare Dexter whose eccentricities add a bit of levity. The well-rendered step-by-step procedural, with its gripping conclusion, makes for an exceptional listen." (AudioFile Magazine, review of Cavendish & Walker)

Cavendish and Walker: A welcome “audiction”
I attempted to listen to Book 3, “Death Track.” Unfortunately, there were audio problems in starting this book (I will try again). I then began Book 4, “Lethal Secret.” Once again, Cavendish and Walker work well together during an intense search for another serial killer. Two very different women, it is interesting to listen to their comical banter as they form a quirky and endearing bond. Again, I was thrilled to get this one in the Audible Plus section for no charge. Clare Corbett has become a new favorite narrator. Sally Rigby pens an intensely suspenseful and exhilarating novel. I will be checking for more from this literary duo. The audiobooks in this series is definitely worth credits or cash purchase. I do not use credits for lower priced books. Kudos to Rigby and Corbett, as well as an awesome thank you to Audible! Highly recommended and I look forward to more adventures from Cavendish and Walker.
NOTE: Author Rigby speaks at the end of this book. She explains more of the ending of Book 1, “Deadly Games.”

Good setting, weaker motivation for murder
There was a lot I enjoyed about this book. The wellness group/cult was wonderfully detailed and portrayed. That slippery slope of those unsatisfied with their lives seeking a fulfilling, spiritual path then crossing into being brainwashed and used. I appreciated the lives of each of the victims and what led them to attend the wellness programs. Sending Dr. George undercover was another fascinating element, and showed a lot about her. But when the murderer was uncovered and the reason revealed I found it underwhelming. Maybe was how easily he confessed once cornered, but it just seemed to wind down with a whimper.
I am loving the brief words from the author. She seems delightful and I love the generosity of her describing her life and her favorite musicals and tv shows.

Complex Plot & Good Narration
We have the 4th book in this series, with a complex crime to figure out. Why three girls after being at a wellness yoga retreat hang themselves. Whitney and George. As they delve into this and find out what was really going on at this place.Giving us a tense filled plot and to stop before more lives are taken. The author gives us a nice flowing plot and keeps one interest to the end. Good Series
Enjoyed the narrator, which added to the tense feeling of the story.

Story/plot are pretty good but the dialogue is not great. Some of the lines are so hokey and unbelievable. All the characters have exactly the same pattern of speech, it gets eye rolling towards the end. Ending is very abrupt.

Badly constructed. A touch of 'cut and paste'; treading water. Poor story, sub- plots going nowhere. The ending was just plain daft; it came from nowhere but still did not pack any punch.

Another Fantastic and gripping listen
I can't praise this whole series enough. I have listened to the prequel and the first 4 books in the series back to back and have loved them all. I particularly enjoyed this one as I love anything which involves a cult and how they recruit new members. The story was gripping from start to finish and as always Clare Corbett's narration was superb.

Couldn’t put it down.
Compulsive reading (listening) . Great story and narration. Can’t wait to start the next one ! Not too many characters to confuse me but enough to keep the reader guessing.

Another enjoyable story
Enjoyed it, storyline was quite good but she had written better. Narration good again she's an enjoyable read even if the story this time wasn't as strong as others.

Sally Rigby
Her stories are usually a light, easy read and this was no exception. Very good narration

Not a bad start to a series
I quite enjoyed this first outing by Sally Rigby. I hope in future the two main characters develop, each of them have good self awareness which provides an opportunity for both of them to grow as people. They are polar opposites and can learn from each other. The storyline was good although it became obvious a bit too early who was guilty of the murders. One thing I didn’t like was the very tired storyline which I think most of us crime readers are so tired of is the ‘boss’ constantly riding the lead detective. It’s so hackneyed and I much prefer authors who can write without this tired theme. Overall a promising start. I’m listening to second in the series now. I’m not all that keen on the narrator mostly because of the posh voice she attempts. It’s very false

Good but lacking suspense
Not the best in the series. Cults are fascinating and a rich source of content for a book. However, the author gave a very bland view on this cult without any real mystery or suspense. Dull!

Loving the series!
Thoroughly enjoyed the first four books and looking forward to number five. Would definitely recommend the series to readers who like detective stories that have strong main characters with some great repartee thrown in.
