Liked story not performance

The story was interesting and kept me engaged. I love the characters and the interplay. The crimes were nasty and it’s a good mystery to follow as they solve it. Unfortunately the narrator has the challenge of having to voice 4 sometimes 5 male voices having conversations and doesn’t seem consistent. The main character’s voice is sometimes too goofy and I didn’t like the choice for his partner’s voice. Finally there’s this irritating sound effect that plays between scenes that I think is supposed to sound like slide of a gun (sorry not gun person). But the crimes are stabbings and the sound just doesn’t work.

good read!

loved the flow and pace of the story and great narrator. the story was fast paced and kept you waiting for more.

So entertaining

I laughed so hard while listening to this book and that’s a good thing when you’re listening to a story involving murders. I loved the characters so much. The narrator’s voice kept me interested and allowed me to envision each character as if it were a movie. I can’t wait to listen to more.

Narrator so bad I couldn’t finish

Story seemed good but the irregular volume, bad voice interpretation, loud shutter clicks between chapters and marble clacks between transitions made it unbearable to listen to. I had a literal ear ache after 7 chapters (was listening with ear buds) so I had to stop. Never failed to power through a bad narrator for a good story before, but this was my 1st.

Performance is annoying, story okay

Why do peoducers think that weird sound effect add interest to the story, when they should just focus on having the narrator use their vouce to keep up with the cadence of the story and develop different voices for the characters. At the end of each scene in the story, there is a weird cha-ching sound which is either an old cash register sound or perhaps a gun slide sound, not sure which bur it os super annoying. The narrator is not too bad, a little monotone but tries to create character voices. The story plot is okay bur predictable so no real surprises. The sound effect distracts from story.

Overly aggressive words/actions on black characters

Poor character development. Overtly racist overtones to black characters. Words like “gorillas” and “boys” and overly aggressive and bullying tactics by the police officers unfortunately was more realistic than entertainment. Not what I look forward to in audio books.

A Real Who Dun It?

A great read, wonderful narration! Started off wondering in a total different direction. Then the next thing you know you are pulled right it. Truly enjoyed the storyline, the mystery, the comrade among the Detective group. Hope everyone enjoys this book as much as I have. Looking to read more from this author, along with the excellent narration!
