Learn how life can be enhanced, how a corporate culture can be changed, how a family can be united - by living the simple lessons of a third-grade dropout.

We live in an era of low expectations. In fact, we tend to celebrate low expectations. The way in which we choose to live and work today is a far cry from the purposeful living of our parents.

Have we reached the point in our society where it is more important to look good rather than be good? Has the pride in doing good work been replaced by self-entitlement, perfect offices, and slick suits?

This book reacquaints listeners with the wisdom - the common sense that was practiced simply and unwittingly by those who represent a generation gone by:

  • A generation that worked hard without complaining
  • A generation that did whatever was necessary to support their families
  • A generation that took pride in doing a good job
  • A generation that had high expectations for themselves and the others they were responsible for

One such member of this generation was a third-grade dropout, a man who never hid behind any excuse. A man who never allowed his problems or lack of a formal education to determine his present or affect his future. A man who realized that destiny was a choice and not a chance.

This book communicates lessons from that man’s life - the kind of wisdom that is rare in society today. It’s the kind of wisdom that will help you be a better person, a greater leader, a more effective worker.

That man was Rick Rigsby’s father, and this book contains his impactful, far-reaching story - of how a life can be enhanced, of how a corporate culture can be changed, of how a family can be united - by living the simple lessons of a third-grade dropout.

Thank you for sharing your fathers wisdom!

I have read many books in my 68 years but this one book just put all my thoughts and fears together and placed in my heart. I will share the wisdom you have shared with others. God challenged me after the death of my beloved husband in 2017 which I tried to ignore. Of course He would have none of that. He asked me if I was going to be obedient or safe. He asked me if I believe He loves me as much as I love Him. Wait. What. He asked me to step out in faith. I didn’t believe He loved me as much because I wasn’t worthy. Imagine a cliff edge and you are standing on it. Trust me to catch you. So I stepped off the ledge and landed in His living arms. I stood from that day and continue to stand today.

Excellent listening. I encourage you to grab a pen and paper. Great instructions to past on to the next generation. Every father and mother should read and share with their sons.

excellent

This is the first audible book I listened to in it entirety without a break. I first heard Dr.Rigsby speaking to college grads on FB. His father was amazing. I will incorporate his mentality into my life and share it with my son.

a great inspiration

God's word is most attractive when He writes it on our hearts. Having done all to stand, stand therefore.
