I’m sharing it all here. It’s not easy being a woman in comedy, especially when you’re a tall-*ss Black woman with a trumpet voice. I have to fight so that no one takes me for granted, and no one takes advantage. These are the stories that explain why. (Cue the Law & Order theme.)

Fantastic listen

Leslie Jones is incredible (and she knows it). This is not a straight read of the book. It makes you feel like you’re sitting on the floor next to Leslie listening to her tell you all kinds of crazy stories. She’s so funny and potty-mouthed. Of course there are serious parts to the book and Leslie makes sure she lets us all know exactly what lessons she wants us to take away from these. I gotta give Jamie Foxx a huge thank you for the advice he gave a young Leslie Jones trying to break into comedy and to Leslie for listening. Without that interaction, we wouldn’t have the Leslie Jones we have today. We’d probably still know her, but she’d be a different person. I knew I loved Leslie’s work, but hearing her story and her authenticity makes me love her as a human too. As long as you don’t mind a lot of cussing, this is a must-listen about knowing one’s own worth, perseverance, and lots of laughs along the way.

Hilarious

The story telling is sincere, reflective and absolutely laugh outloud funny. Just know the title of the book is Leslie F***** Jones and I’m estimating she says the F word 2,200 times which makes it authentic Leslie !

Great book made better because Leslie narrated it. I felt that she came across as authentic and relatable. Really enjoyed the book and out of the 16 hours of listening I think I laughed for at least 15.
