Publisher's summary

They were destined for failure.

When William, a mysterious and manipulative wizard, learns the deadly Ravenstone has been uncovered by a self-proclaimed regent known as the Priagent, he hastily assembles a group of mismatched travelers to steal the stone and deliver it to safety.

The Ravenstone is an ancient relic—a remnant of a battle between gods—and it has the power to unravel magic. The unlikely company sent to retrieve it consists of Arcturus, an exiled politician with a fondness for wine, Kariayla, a winged slave girl on a quest for redemption, Jinx, an unlucky thief and his imp counterpart, and Hawkwing, William's personal spy, at the helm.

Distrust, secrets, and inexperience threaten to compromise the mission as the group is forced to travel in the company of the enemy. Doubt turns to the wizard who employed them on this precarious quest—the quest to obtain a mythic source of dark power: the Legend of the Ravenstone.

Characters Continue to Grow Throughout The Story

There is so much that happens throughout this book that I have trouble giving a subnosis.
There turns out basicly to be quite a few Main Characters in this Book. First a girl who is treated Horribly, then the Red Skin man, Next Nightwing with all his abilities and secrets, next Jinks the unlucky thief, And William the Wizard. There are more, but that is who the story dances around.
Narrator does a great job with the various characters' voices and the entire storyline. On to the next book in this Series!!

A good, fun, easy to follow story.

No-one looked at this book, so I thought I'd take a look.

Two characters go through various travel adventures, eventually a third character is added. All very straightforward with well-motivated, fun characters. The narrator does an excellent job with each character to make them distinct.

The villains are over-the-top villains. So, perhaps a bit of a lightweight story, but I had a lot of fun listening to it. Often, audiobooks can be stressful to listen to when stakes get too high. This book is pure guilty pleasure stuff.

Highly recommended.
